Muslims Condemn action against Shah Rukh Khan

Muslims Condemn action against Shah Rukh Khan
http://worldmuslimcongress.blogspot.com/2009/06/muslims-condemn-action-against-shah.html

A few Muslims in Mumbai have taken King Khans’ words out of context and have filed a case against him alleging that he maligned the Prophet. (News item below)

We the Muslims condemn the acts of the Aman group for initiating such an irresponsible act, and it is time for Muslims to speak out against pettiness like this. It is time for the flaunters to realize that stuff like this happens every day, you 'll find them in every group.

The filing of case against Shahrukh Khan by the Aman group deserves condemnation on two counts:

i) It is some thing the Prophet would not approve. The Prophet told his followers not to be judgmental about other persons, and if you hear negatives about others, it is your duty to find the truth before it gets out of your mouth. You should not spread falsities and you should not be in a position to regret.

ii) It is the dumbest thing and not a Muslim thing to do.

One Amit Lal writes: Please note the actual comment made by Shah Rukh before passing judgment. Khan said "According to you who is the most impressive figure in history?" Khan allegedly said, "There are lots of them, some negative ones like Hitler, Napoleon, Winston Churchill and if I can call it history, then Prophet Mohammed and from recent time Nelson Mandela." Here, Hitler is the negative figure, while all the others are the positive figures.

The role of a Muslim is to mitigate conflicts and nurture goodwill. Obviously King Khan was misrepresented, and even if he were to be wrong, forgive him, God loves the person who forgives.

Fellow Muslims, please speak up.
We should discourage all such acts.
Forgive this man and move on.

FIR filed against Shahrukh for comment on Prophet Mohammed

http://www.facebook.com/ext/share.php?sid=94215028613&h=XMuuB&u=4u009&ref=nf

King Khan is in trouble again. The Bandra police has filed a case against Shahrukh Khan yesterday (18th June) for hurting the religious sentiments of the Muslims. The Muslim community is not happy with the actor's remark on their Prophet Mohammed in the July issue of Time N Style magazine, in which he listed the Prophet as one of the most unimpressive personalities in history.

The police has filed an FIR against the actor following a complaint registered Shahrukh, the publisher of the magazine and the writer by the Mumbai Aman Committee, a religious organisation. The case was registered under section 295-a (deliberate and malicious acts intended to outrage religion feelings or any class by insulting its religion beliefs) and 34 (acts done by several persons with common interest) of IPC.

The police revealed that they have registered a case against Shahrukh after receiving an application from an advocate, who alleged that the actor made some remarks against Prophet Mohammed, which has hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community. It added that he would not be arrested immediately but would take action after the probing is done. Shahrukh could be jailed for three years if convicted.

Shahrukh's comment has invited wrath from the Muslim community. Farid Sheikh, President of Mumbai Aman Committee, said that they would not allow Shahrukh's body to be buried anywhere in Maharashtra. Zarar Qureshi, secretary of the committee, also said that the actor has hurt the Muslim community by bracketed the Prophet Mohammed along with Adolf Hitler and Winston Churchill.

Meanwhile, Shahrukh, who is currently busy shooting for Karan Johar's My Name Is Khan in the US, said that he was misrepresented. He added that his most important objective in life is to stand up for the tenets of Islam.

SHAHRUKH'S MESSAGE - updated now

"In a message, the actor who is currently abroad shooting for Karan Johar's "My Name is Khan," said that there is no more important figure in history than Prophet Mohammad."Being a Muslim and standing up for the tenets of Islam is my most important agenda," he said.

The actor's response came a day after a First Information Report (FIR) was registered against him. Referring to protests on the issue, Shah Rukh said, "If they have seen my interviews about Islam and the Prophet, they should know that it is a writing error and not a thought or view I believe in." He said, "for all practical purposes... Prophet Mohammad is the most important positive figure in Islam". Khan's statement will be recorded on his return from the US."
Muslims hurt by Shahrukh's comments

AMAN GROUP

A Muslim group by the name of Mumbai Aman Committee has taken objection to Shahrukh Khan's statements about Islam in a recent interview to a magazine. They alleged that King Khan had used unparliamentary language against the Prophet in the July issue of the Time and Style magazine which hurt the sentiments of the Muslim community.

The group has given a written complaint to the police asKing them to file a case under section 504 of the IPC (intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of peace) against Shahrukh. A senior police official has confirmed receiving the complaint and said thorough investigation will be doing before registering a case against Shahrukh.

Shahrukh who is Los Angeles shooting for My Name Is Khan has stated that he was he was misrepresented and added that there was nobody in the history more important to him than Prophet Mohammad. He added that being a Muslim and standing up for the tenets of Islam was his most important agenda in life.

  1. People make mistakes, a good human being forgives. As a muslim, we need to learn to forgive. Lets forgive and move on, there are more serious issues in the world to worry about.

  2. Shahrukh must be ashamed to call our Prophet(Peace be upon Him)a negative figure if that what he meant in his statement. If he didn't mean what he said, then he should make a clear statement again that Prophet Mohammad(PUH)was the most impressive personality in the History & a great figure for the Islamic world.

  5. Another case in point where Muslims show extremism in thoughts and actions. After reading his statement it is clear what he meant. It was positive for Mohammed as it was for Mandela.
Let's refine our thinking more towards peace, restraint and forgiveness....

  7. The Quran says Beduins only changed their faith but have not become real Muslims. It is true, most Muslims especially the Talibans, the Ladens and their likes today are simply the modern Beduins; they have kept their faith but remained haughty in their understanding the essance of Islam. What is true is that Islam is a civilization over barbarism of the tribal Beduins.
Even during prophet's time some Muslims and many nonmuslims said against the Prophet. He forgave them. If Shah Rukh said, "If they have seen my interviews about Islam and the Prophet, they should know that it is a writing error and not a thought or view I believe in."
What else you Fascist/ Taliban Muslims want? Try to be peace-loving Muslim that the Prophet wanted you to be.

  8. Understanding the English language is important if one is to read English articles. If the Aman group have no sufficient knowledge of English grammar, they are in no position to speak against comments made in English!

  9. Anyone with half a brain would realize the error in that statement, and knows that someone as public a figure as he would realize what repercussions would come to him had he meant to say that. anyways, EXACTLY as Ishrat said... there are MORE serious issues to worry about. Some people need to relax, make the 70 excuses and shut up. Sorry for being so blunt, but this kinda stuff makes me upset because all it brings is conflict and disunity among the ummah.

  10. Thanks , good to see the act of condemnation, if Shahrukh said what you cite Prophet Muhammad among the positive figures in the history. With best regards

  12. lord goodness, i guess people ought verify their command over english... the message delivered by the actor is definitely misinterpreted. stop penalizing him. and by the way, what Shahrukh or Amir or Salman says shouldn't bother our imaan and disrupt the routine.

so people just grow up and stop giving unwanted attention to people who are already looked down on by Allah ta'alah.

  13. Sadia,

With due respect to your opinion, there is no support for your claim "so people just grow up and stop giving unwanted attention to people who are already looked down on by Allah ta'alah."

Allah does not lookdown on any one, and he reserves the judgement till the day of judgment. There is always something good in a human and only Allah knows, not you, not me and not even the Prophet pbuh), That's how simple Islam is.

If you observe prayers, you would at least recite "Malik-i-yomiddin, only God is the master of the day of judgment" 50 times. Please understand it means, no passing of judgment on any one's faith.

You have not read the piece either, please read and respond.

    Jazak Allah Khair

  14. Even if you assume, and you should never assume, that Shah Rukh Khan made a negative comment about the Prophet. Who are these pious bunch to sit in judgment? Is their religion and faith so weak as not to even hear a negative comment?

Go re-read your Quran again and again and you will find that the Prophet was maligned and ridiculed and made fun of all through his life, and he never condemned or filed suit.

Grow up, will you please? Have a conversation, discuss your faith, show the world by your example why it is better to be a Muslim, these things only antagonize and alienate us from the rest of humanity.

Once we built the greatest empire in the history of mankind, we did not do it by condemning and destroying all, we showed them a better way to live, it is time we did that again.

  16. If you read SRK's comment correctly, he does not say what he is accused of. Yes, he did not clearly specify that Prophet Mohammad p.b.o.h is the most impressive figure in history. As a Muslim, if you know the history of Prophet Mohammad your immediate and clear answer to that reporter should be Prophet Mohammed!

    ReplyDelete
  17. Dear All,
What all of us are not understanding is that Mr SRK who himself says that he lives by the Tenet of Islam must realized that as a Muslim you can't compare Prophets with others. One of the basic TENET OF Islam.
Secondly this matter as being going on for a week now but till now Mr.SRK as not come out to clear his name which in most cases will be taken for admission of guilt or that He doesn't care about the feeling of Muslim world. You can pick anyone and at least feel ashamed that one of the most able person in PR have done this thing to his own Religion.I do feel sorry for all of us and invoke Allah to have mercy on SRK and bring him to senses as soon as possible,Ameen.

  18. WHAT CAN MUSLIMS DO?

If the Aman group did this in their own name, we can understand their stupidity - A woman sued McDonald for the hot spilled coffee in her lap, a few vegetarians sued them for the animal fat in the oil for French Fries.

But Aman group using the Muslim label to do bad thing must be discouraged. If we started spitting at them (meaning - discouraing them)these irresponsible hot shot heroes will realize that there is no support for them.

  19. I agree with you up to the part where you say that a Muslim must find out facts before accepting anything as truth. But my dear, this is a magazine interview we are talking about, and these words were printed with the authority of a well known magazine not just word of mouth, so I think it is pretty much confirmed.
And as for the part where you write that we should forgive his "mistake", it is not our position to forgive someone when it comes to the honour of our Prophet(SAW). The forgiveness is in matters where only you as an individual are affected.
So please keep these points in mind when you comment on the issue.
I think its better if the matter is properly investigated and if Mr Shah Rukh is innocent then we shouldn't have any complaints.

  21. I don't know the authenticity of comments by actor. But who ever do this will be executed to death according to Islamic Law. There is no place for such people in us. You cannot ignore it by saying we have more important issues then that. This is the most important issue. Your whole belief stands on it. You have no belief if you ignore it.
So this issue need to be investigated and if he is responsible than we must proceed with the Islamic LAW. Also his life and work also have no relation with Islam. Please check out below video to have a slight idea.

  22. Abdul Haseeb, YES you are absolutely right. It should be investigated properly because its is the responisbility of the person who is interviewed to read the stuff to be printed in the magazine for confirmation and then the responsibility of the editor to check all the written material to be printed. However, if sharukh khan is wrong we strongly condemn it and we should also keep in mind the international media is against Muslims and the media might giving it a try to demoralize the Muslims by intentionally printing the interview in a wrong manner.

We have to see all the aspects of the matter then to pass any positive or negative comment

  26. Dear Usman Khalid,

If you are a Muslim, you recite "Malik-i-Yomiddin" 50 times a day, do you get the meaning of it? You cannot judge any one, even God does not judge any one until the day of Judgement.

Islam is not about banning, but working together to create a peaceful society for every human being.

  27. Most of the comments given above r from muslims as their names show. They All BLOODY Shah Rukh's Fans and have no concern with islam except keep their muslim names. U ALL MUST KNOW THAT ANY PERSON WHO GIVE ANY NEGATIVE COMMENTS/ACTIONS ABOUT ANY PROPHET INCLUDING PROPHET MUHAMMAD (peace be upon him) MUST BE SENTENCED TO DEATH, ACCORDING TO ISLAMIC LAWS.

    ReplyDelete
  28. Dear Anonymous body,

Please wake up, there is no such punishment for negative comments about the Prophet. There is no sentencing to death for that and whoever does that is not Islamic, even though the fanatics may label it as such.

The fanatics alway jump at every thing; in our democracies both India and the US, when the right wingers run the government, you cannot be critical of them, it amounts to unpatriotic behavior. Same way, when the right winger Muslims have a say, they do wrong things, things that the prophet would not approve of.

The world is moving in the right direction, both in the US and India we have moderates running the affairs of the nation and one's freedom to breath, to criticize and pursue his or her pursuit of happiness is getting re-stored now.

I usually do not pay attention and make comments on these type of issues because Islam and Muslims faith are not so fragile. This is really non-sense.

Let's pay attention to the English writing and context of the speaker.

"According to you who is the most impressive figure in history?" Question is about "impressive figure in history" (which is positive) He began saying positively, "There are lots of them." Then he interrupted his positive comment with a negative comment on Hitler (end of negative)and continues with positive comments on impressive figures in history which with Nelson Mandela.

By the way, I am not fan of SRK or any body.

    Shanti.

  34. People above were saying that "Learn English before you comment" and blah blah blah. Well. If you look at the statement he made, you'd see "There are lots of them, some negative ones like Hitler, Napoleon, Winston Churchill and if I can call it history, then Prophet Mohammed and from recent time Nelson Mandela." And he didn't really care to stop. He went on with the "Some negative like... ". Yeah. I can see it was a mistake. First: It doesn't matter if he's a muslim or not, he's a public figure. He would die rather than saying such stuff publically. Second: It really was a mistake in the statement. The writing mistake, maybe. But yes, he should have said, "Some negative like Hitlor and others.... " Just 'and others' would have changed everything but let's not forget we are all humans. We do make mistakes every now and then. But to SRK, he should appologize just to calm down Muslims who are angered by misinterpretating his statement. Just one little sorry won't hurt his pride, if it's all it takes to chill the fire.
    Regards!

Allah commanded us to judge according to the quran, so yes as Muslims we do judge, we are the best nation as Allah says because we command good and forbid evil and believe in Allah, the prophet saws was sent to judge the apparent. And only the deviant understanding of irja (seperating) in amaal wal iman (actions and faith) known as murjiah sect say we canr condemn avtions because the heart holds iman. No scholar ever differed that iman is in the heart, on the tongue and in the actions of the limbs and is of all three components and not enough to have just one of the above mentioned. So talk with knowledge or remain silent. Any slander of the prophet is never considered minor and islamic state would feel the full wrath of the law

Planned Muslim Response to Qur'an Burning by Pastor Jones on September 11 in Mulberry, Florida

PLANNED MUSLIMS RESPONSE TO QUR'AN BURNING BY PASTOR JONES ON 9/11/13 IN MULBERRY, FLORIDA

We as Muslims plan to respond to pastor Terry Jones' planned burning of 3000 copies of Quran on September 11, 2013 in positive terms.

Our response - we will reclaim the standard of behavior practiced by the Prophet concerning “scurrilous and hostile criticism of the Qur’an” (Muhammad Asad Translation Note 31, verse 41:34). It was "To overcome evil with good is good, and to resist evil by evil is evil." It is also strongly enjoined in the Qur’an in the same verse 41:34, “Good and evil deeds are not equal. Repel evil with what is better; then you will see that one who was once your enemy has become your dearest friend.”

God willing Muslims will follow the divine guidance and pray for the restoration of Goodwill, and on that day many Muslim organizations will go on a “blood drive” to save lives and serve humanity with kindness.

We invite fellow Americans of all faiths, races, and ethnicities to join us to rededicate the pledge, “One nation under God”, and to build a cohesive America where no American has to live in apprehension, discomfort or fear of fellow Americans. This event is a substitute for our 10th Annual Unity Day Celebration (www.UnitydayUSA.com) held in Dallas, but now it will be at Mulberry, Florida.

Unwittingly Pastor Jones has done us a favor by invigorating us by his decision to burn nearly 3000 copies Quran on September 11, 2013. Obviously he is not satisfied by the notoriety he garnered by burning one Qur'an last year.

As Muslims and citizens we honor the free speech guaranteed in our constitution. We have no intentions to criticize, condemn or oppose Pastor Terry Jones' freedom of expression. Instead, we will be donating blood and praying for goodness to permeate in our society.

We plan to follow Jesus Christ (pbuh), a revered prophet in Islam as well as Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) – that of mitigating the conflicts and nurturing good will for the common good of the society.

We hope, this event and the message will remind Muslims elsewhere in the world as well, that violence is not the way. Muslims, who react violently to senseless provocation, should realize that, violence causes more violence, and besmirches the name of the religion that we hold so dear. We believe that Prophet Muhammad was a mercy to the mankind, and we ought to practice what we believe and preach. We must not insult Islam by the negative reactions of a few.

We can only hope it will bring about a change in the attitude of the followers of Pastor Jones, and in the behavior of those Muslims who reacted violently the last time Pastor sought notoriety – We hope this small step towards a bridge to peaceful coexistence would propel us towards building a cohesive society.

Like most Americans a majority of Muslims quietly go about their own business, but it is time to speak up and take positive action instead of negative reaction. May this message of peace and goodwill reverberate and reach many shores.

Lastly, we appreciate the Citizens of Mulberry, Florida, Honorable Mayor George Hatch, City Commissioners, police and Fire Chiefs for handing this situation very well. This will add a ‘feather of peace’ in the City’s reputation. We hope Mulberry will be a catalyst in showing the way in handling conflict with dignity and peace.

We thank the Media for giving value to the work towards peace rather than conflict.

CIVIL DIALOGUE

The people in Dallas are making an effort to understand and clean their own hearts first, when we are free from bias, it would be easy to share that with others. Islam teaches us in so many ways to "respect the otherness of others" and it is time we find simple practical ways of doing it.
