Ahmadiyya Muslims among Muslims

Sunday, March 7, 2010 - 10:00 AM
Allah knows best

http://worldmuslimcongress.blogspot.com/2010/03/ahmadiyya-muslims-among-muslims.html

The following notes are about the attitudes of a few Muslims towards the Ahmadiyya Muslims. Take the time to observe a few Muslim discussion groups – you will find hundreds of judgmental pronouncements on stuff like this, while in the same groups intellectual articles barely get any discussion.

The ugliest thing that I have heard about Muslims;

A Christian Neocon told me; “Muslims are like dogs, throw them bones and they will go after it, as if that is the only thing they have in life to fight for. We have people among you to continuously throw bones like Hijab, Bidda, Haraam, beating the wife, Shia, Sunni, Ahmadi or Ismaili – and we keep them busy with those, we love it.” Unfortunately, a tiny minority of Muslims chew on the bones, and thank God, a majority of us mind our own business.

There is an ideological imbalance among those few; Prophet taught about the middle path a balance between Deen and Duniya, we need to be conscious of that. In the Parliament of World Religions conference, I attended a Jewish conference on future of Judaism, a Rabbi was clear, "We Jewish people focus on living the life while we are trustees of it until God takes it back and our focus is here, where we live". What about us? As Muslims, we focus on the life here after and betray the life here”. Is there meaning in it?

I am saddened to hear this petty stuff that we are getting entangled with, and I shall save this at http://www.worldmuslimcongress.com/ under the topic Ahmadiyya Muslims among Muslims, and just copy and throw at those who are involved in this non-sense who is and who isn’t a Muslim.

First of all what difference does it make? Secondly and most importantly the ones who talk ill about others, have not met with Ahmadiyya people, and if they have met, they have met their matching counterparts who harp on the perceived wrong, rather than volumes of goodness. They need to talk with the Ahmadiyya intellectuals or scholars. As Muslims, we need to develop standard response to educate the ill-informed amongst us.

I was going to write the notes, then just looked at Sura Hujurat and found the answers. By the way, those who are not Muslims and reading this, if you want to study Pluralism, read the Quraan with an open mind and you will find this to be documents written for co-existence.

49:6 (Asad) O YOU who have attained to faith! If any iniquitous person comes to you with a [slanderous] tale, use your discernment, [5] lest you hurt people unwittingly and afterwards be filled with remorse for what you have done. [6] -

49:9 (Asad) Hence, if two groups of believers fall to fighting, [9] make peace between them; but then, if one of the two [groups] goes on acting wrongfully towards the other, fight against the one that acts wrongfully until it reverts to God’s commandment; [10] and if they revert, make peace between them with justice, and deal equitably [with them]: for verily, God loves those who act equitably! -

49:10 (Asad) All believers are but brethren. [11] hence, [when¬ever they are at odds,] make peace between your two brethren, and remain conscious of God, so that you might be graced with His mercy. -

49:11 (Asad) O YOU who have attained to faith! No men shall deride [other] men: it may well be that those [whom they deride] are better than themselves; and no women [shall deride other] women: it may well be that those [whom they deride] are better than them¬selves. [12] And neither shall you defame one another, nor insult one another by [opprobrious] epithets: evil is all imputation of iniquity after [one has attained to] faith; [13] and they who [become guilty thereof and] do not repent - it is they, they who are evildoers!

49:1 (Asad) O YOU who have attained to faith! Do not put yourselves forward [1] in the presence of [what] God and His Apostle [may have ordained], but remain conscious of God: for, verily, God is all-hearing, all-knowing! -

INTERFAITH CONFERENCE BY AHMADIYYA MUSLIMS

The Ahmadiyya Muslim community held an interfaith conference on Sunday, March 6, 2010 at their Masjid in Allen, Texas. Imams, Rabbis, Pastors, Gurus and I spoke about the need for interfaith dialogue. Do you know that Prophet Muhammad was one of the first persons to have conducted interfaith dialogues? There was a Zoroastrian priest who has done that earlier. The oft repeated story of the Christians from Najran in Masjid -e- Nabwi has a point – Prophet offered them to pray their own prayers in his Mosque. Do you understand Prophet’s wisdom in that?

Insha Allah, I will compile a brief report of the meeting.

I have been to the Ahmadiyya Mosque a few times, they use the same Qur’aan we use do, and their beliefs are about the same. Even if they have a different version so what? Do we, as Muslims understand what prophet meant and predicted 72 groups within Islam? Didn’t he acknowledge variations are bound to happen given the human Fitra (nature)? Why would he even say that? Didn’t he understand us all some 1400 years ago?

A Major correction to Muhammad Irtaza’s note: They do not claim that Muhammad was not the final prophet. However, they do believe that the promised Messiah is Mirza Ahmed from Qadian. I just looked up Wiki to double check, please note that Wikipedia is not a reliable and scholarly referential site, but it gives a good start. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mirza_Ghulam_Ahmad

A suggestion to the Ahmadiyya community, not to the scholars, but the ordinary folks among them; Please do not make the mistake of pointing that it is the” other Muslims” that have the Madrasas who teach violent Jihad.” The attendees laugh at it, that you are playing politics to gain support by denigrating the other, to the Neocons we are all the same. Just like any community, the majority of them do the right thing, a few make a mess for every one. Let’s keep our Jihad to correct them from rumors, gossip and false information.

Let’s uplift every one, and all of us go up.

To be a Muslim is to mitigate conflicts and nurture goodwill.

The thread below prompted me to write this essay. Some Anwar Haque had written the dumbest comments;

Qadyanis are creation of Zionists for their perpetual service

Salaam Mr. Haq.

You know very well that the Prophet Mohammad did not create Shia or Sunni. So, tell me who created them?! I am not Qadyani, nor Shia nor Sunni. How about you?! As far as I know Qadyanis claim that Mohammad was not the final Prophet ,and that was not in line with the teaching of the Quran.

But, you claim that Mohammad was the final messenger, and that was also not in line with the teaching of the Quran! So, why do you think you are better than Qadyani?! Please know that, according to the Quran, Abraham was neither Jewish nor Christian, but was a monotheist Muslim.

[3:67] Abraham was neither Jewish, nor Christian; he was a monotheist submitter. He never was an idol worshiper.

Similarly, Muhammad was neither Sunni nor Shia ...nor..., but was a monotheist Muslim.

[16:123] Then we inspired you (Muhammad) to follow the religion of Abraham, the monotheist; he never was an idol worshiper.

We need to remember that we cannot be a divider, nor can be a compromiser. A divider or a compromiser cannot be a Submitter (in Arabic, Muslim).

[15:90] We will deal with the dividers.
[15:91] They accept the Quran only partially.
[15:92] By your Lord, we will question them all,
[15:93] about everything they have done.

Thank you and may God guide me,

Muhammed Irtaza

Subject: Qadyanis are creation of Zionists for their perpetual service
Bismillah hir Rehman nir Raheem

Qadyanis are created by the English Zionists for their service. They are thus thriving in Israel. Israel and India have very cordial relations and very close cooperation in global terrorism. Qadyanis have occupied key positions through unjust practices and utter nepotism. Their loyalty is with enemies of Islam. Pakistan is created for Islam and not for enemies of Islam. Qadyanis reject Allah’s clear verdict that the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) is the final messenger and that there would be no new Prophet of Allah after Muhammad (PBUH). Qadaynis made false prophets and attributed to Allah what He did not say. Hence how can they be trusted? Only idiots of highest grade can trust them. They have destroyed Pakistan. Look At M. M. Ahmed, Shaukat Aziz etc what they did to Pakistan. They made Pakistan a slave of Zionist IMF and World bank and devalued Pakistani currency from 4 to a dollar to 85 a dollar. We are all paying the price for their thefts and evil acts. In the case of Ajmal Kasab the role of our own interior ministry, navy and ministry of foreign affairs can not be totally ruled out. They are playing in the hands of India. - Anwar Ul Haque

  2. Mr. Anwar Ul Haque,

I am sorry to hear what you have to say. My only response to your tirade is that it sounds a lot like what Hitler used to say about the Jews. He blamed the Jews for all of the problems in Germany, just as you blame Ahmadi's for all of the problems in Pakistan. Ahmadi's believe in "Love for all, Hatred for none." If we could all practice this, what a better world we could live in.

  3. Mike,
If there were no Ahmadis, these bigots will find someone else to hate. You don't understand, these people thrive on hatred; without someone to hate they would wither and who wants to wither?

As a simple Muslim, I see the issue thus, but only in the light of the Book that we say is common to us and therefore assume that we know the reference.-

1- Total belief in the final Messenger’s and all the Previous Messengers, makes a Person a Momin. (eg 2-4)
2- Hence gets membership of the ‘Brotherhood of Believers’
3 This Membership is nullified by joining any organisation, which abrogates any ordinance of Quran--- that is, the Risalaah of Rasool
4- Selective belief, in Deen (Islamic ordinance) is not allowed. (No nit picking)
5- Acrimonious Disunity breaks this Brotherhood and cuts relationship with Final Messenger in Deen; hence Muslim is excised from the ‘Brotherhood of Momin’.
6- Muslim people also belong to the general nation-hood of Human beings, on the basis that they are all from Adam--creation of one God.
7- The fact that Muslims of all ilk claim Quran as their Divine Book, logically makes them ‘people of the Book’ as well.

My Conclusion:- All Momins (Believers) who believe totally in the divine book are Muslims, but not all Muslims are Momins- They are merely ‘people of the Book’.

As poet Iqbal had pointed out that we even have a lower levels of divisions—
yun toe sayyed bhee hoe mirza bhee hoe afghaan bhee ho
tum sabhee kuch hoe, btaao toe Musulman bhee hoe?!

That is--we are every thing but not even muslims.

  5. Quran-e-Majeed is preserved letter by letter and word by word and that itself is the proof that Muahmmad (PBUH) is the last and the final messenger of Allah. Quran is the living mircale given to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) so that it can be seen, witnessed, acted upon with superb fruits every where in the world and at any time till the last day. No body has a right to change. Mirza Ghulam did many things against Quran in terms of Jihad, friendship with enemies of Allah etc.

  7. Why are you keep using the Term Ahmadi Muslim, this is the exact deception Quadianis continue to creat..Call them anything but not Muslim. Please use the correct Identity of them. You will loose the bigger cause of creating the Hormoney but do not annoy Muslim Ummah to Portray Ahamdis, Quadianis / Mirzaiees as Muslim, one of the Muslim Sect or Islamic School of thought. Please my Brother.

  8. Salim Shaikh, you obviously did not read the essay, please do that.

Ahmadiyya are Muslims, that is what they say who they are, and their Shahadah is "LaiLaha IllalLahu Muhammadur Rasool ullahi".

Please don't act God, let God decide that on the day of judgement. They are Muslims, period.

  9. This message of 'Ahmadiyya Muslims......' couldn't have come at better time when Shia Ismaili Muslims are being humiliated and cursed by some ignorant and stupid muslims as a reminder that days of sectarian supremacy is over and Age of Pluralism is in, under which people of all beliefs have fundamental rights to co-exist as society as a whole and accept fact of its plurality and undertake, as a solemn responsibility to preserve and enhance pluralism as one of our fundamental values and an inescapable condition for world peace and further human development.

  10. Hasni,

Allah is God of all universes, to define him and reduce him to one interpretation is not acceptable.

The people who are cursing Shia's are mis-informed, and thank God they are less than 1/10th of 1% of Muslims, they are insignificant, but misinformed.

However, as moderate Muslims who make up over 95% of our population, we have to workd with all people, and at least present them another point of view, a point of view where God is lord of the universe and every human, life, and matter is created by his systems.

Good news is a majority of any people are darn good people.

  11. Dear Mike,
    Assalamu alaikum.w.w.
Thanking you for your comments and your boldness in understanding about ahmadiyya muslim jamath.Ahmadis having the same quran which revealed to Holy Prophet(saw) but their interpretions for some verses of the quran is different from the other sect of muslims.Example is all the 72 sects are saying, that Jesus(as)was bodily taken to the heaven and still living there but according to the ahmadis he was attained the natural death. My request is kindly listen to the ahmadis belief and check it with quran and sunnah and hadiths and this will be the best for a muslims in both the worlds.Thanking you.wassalam .Mubarak

  12. thanks Mike, I listened to your speech in Allen, tx, good thoughts. All I will say that Ahmadies believe and not less than anybody practice true islam and on the final jurisdicition of GOD which is Quran. also they believe Muhammad SAW to be the final Law Bearing Prophet. Coming of Prophet after Muhammad ( SAW ) is only after the seal of Muhammad is stamped on such person. as in Sura Nisa one of the reward of following the Prophet of Islam is Prophethood. and also we pray everyday Guide us to the right path, path of those on whom you gave blessings, not of those who incurred wrath or gone astray. the most supreme blessing is of course Prophethood which is now limited to subordinate Prophet of Muhammad ( SAW). That is the exact claim of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani.

  14. Assalam u Alikum to All my brothers,

I just don't get one thing about everyone...
We are all Muslims "ONE UMMAH".
    I am An Ahmadi Muslim!
we believe in Holy Quran as the Sunii's & Shia and all other do!
We Believe in the Hadith Just as the Sunni Shia and all other do!
We believe in the Sunnah JUST as the sunni Shia and all other do!

I mean there are 99.9% Similarities and just that .1% difference and we start debating about it.

MY ADVICE TO ALL OF YOU WOULD BE "Don't debate just for the sake of debating"

Become brothers, who knows Allah tallah may become pleased with us just by being nice to each other!

  16. Will Toyota car allow any other car manufacturer t name their car as Toyota? Quran is the last and final divine book and hence protected from dust and rust of time. It is fresh frozen for last 1450 years. This itself is a proof that Muhammad (PBUT) was the last and the final messenger of Allah. We can can not allow anyone to become God. When you write or say and claim that it is from Allah it means you are acting as god which is not acceptable. By having Muslim name and identity you penetrate and can do great damage like Shaitan Malik, Noman Bashir, Salman Bashir and Tariq Aziz etc are doingrignowht

Planned Muslim Response to Qur'an Burning by Pastor Jones on September 11 in Mulberry, Florida

PLANNED MUSLIMS RESPONSE TO QUR'AN BURNING BY PASTOR JONES ON 9/11/13 IN MULBERRY, FLORIDA

We as Muslims plan to respond to pastor Terry Jones' planned burning of 3000 copies of Quran on September 11, 2013 in positive terms.

Our response - we will reclaim the standard of behavior practiced by the Prophet concerning “scurrilous and hostile criticism of the Qur’an” (Muhammad Asad Translation Note 31, verse 41:34). It was "To overcome evil with good is good, and to resist evil by evil is evil." It is also strongly enjoined in the Qur’an in the same verse 41:34, “Good and evil deeds are not equal. Repel evil with what is better; then you will see that one who was once your enemy has become your dearest friend.”

God willing Muslims will follow the divine guidance and pray for the restoration of Goodwill, and on that day many Muslim organizations will go on a “blood drive” to save lives and serve humanity with kindness.

We invite fellow Americans of all faiths, races, and ethnicities to join us to rededicate the pledge, “One nation under God”, and to build a cohesive America where no American has to live in apprehension, discomfort or fear of fellow Americans. This event is a substitute for our 10th Annual Unity Day Celebration (www.UnitydayUSA.com) held in Dallas, but now it will be at Mulberry, Florida.

Unwittingly Pastor Jones has done us a favor by invigorating us by his decision to burn nearly 3000 copies Quran on September 11, 2013. Obviously he is not satisfied by the notoriety he garnered by burning one Qur'an last year.

As Muslims and citizens we honor the free speech guaranteed in our constitution. We have no intentions to criticize, condemn or oppose Pastor Terry Jones' freedom of expression. Instead, we will be donating blood and praying for goodness to permeate in our society.

We plan to follow Jesus Christ (pbuh), a revered prophet in Islam as well as Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) – that of mitigating the conflicts and nurturing good will for the common good of the society.

We hope, this event and the message will remind Muslims elsewhere in the world as well, that violence is not the way. Muslims, who react violently to senseless provocation, should realize that, violence causes more violence, and besmirches the name of the religion that we hold so dear. We believe that Prophet Muhammad was a mercy to the mankind, and we ought to practice what we believe and preach. We must not insult Islam by the negative reactions of a few.

We can only hope it will bring about a change in the attitude of the followers of Pastor Jones, and in the behavior of those Muslims who reacted violently the last time Pastor sought notoriety – We hope this small step towards a bridge to peaceful coexistence would propel us towards building a cohesive society.

Like most Americans a majority of Muslims quietly go about their own business, but it is time to speak up and take positive action instead of negative reaction. May this message of peace and goodwill reverberate and reach many shores.

Lastly, we appreciate the Citizens of Mulberry, Florida, Honorable Mayor George Hatch, City Commissioners, police and Fire Chiefs for handing this situation very well. This will add a ‘feather of peace’ in the City’s reputation. We hope Mulberry will be a catalyst in showing the way in handling conflict with dignity and peace.

We thank the Media for giving value to the work towards peace rather than conflict.

CIVIL DIALOGUE

The people in Dallas are making an effort to understand and clean their own hearts first, when we are free from bias, it would be easy to share that with others. Islam teaches us in so many ways to "respect the otherness of others" and it is time we find simple practical ways of doing it.
