Further on Quraan burning

http://worldmuslimcongress.blogspot.com/2012/03/further-on-quraan-burning.html
Posted at WorldMuslimCongress@yahoogroups.com in response to concerns and question from Mian Waheed and Khalid Faridi.

First of all, I second and endorse the words of Khalid, “Quran is our symbol. And to a Muslim this symbol carries enormous weight and value.” Indeed, it is.  Most of the conflicts start by messing with the symbols and icons of others.

Mian you are right about burial, as the pages may be uncovered years later, as it happened in Yemen, those unearthed pages are being looked at in Germany and there are conflicting reports on that.  There is a new book out called Which Quran? By an ex-Muslim Ibn Warraq, he had copied the pages from different copies and shows them to be different. I have not seen this yet, but I have been called on it. No wonder Hazrat Umar burned several copies of the Quraan that were misprinted (written).

The Afghan rebels desecrated the Quraan before the American soldiers burnt it, they wrote secret messages on the pages of Quraan, no idea what they were, but you are not supposed to alter, or give the appearance of alteration.  Neither one is charitable acts.

Burning may not be the real issue, but disrespect, desecration and denigration is the issue. The behavior is designed to irritate the Muslims and Muslims fall prey to it.

We have several choices to consider:

1. Retribution – Retribution should be addressed directly to the men and women who messed with it. They need to be called in at the court and punished appropriately, if found guilty. Islam presumes one is innocent until proven guilty as does our constitution, only God knows what is in one’s heart until we can extract it from them.

If retribution is not confined to the men and women, then it is inflammatory and wrong. We cannot condemn Afghans, Muslim or Americans for the acts of the individuals. God sets the example of punishment to the individuals. Please remember the Quraan is clear about it; no one bears the burdens of other.

2. Forgiving and turning the other cheek – Prophet Jesus and Prophet Muhammad both have set that example innumerable times – don’t aggravate the conflict, but mitigate it and nurture goodwill. Taif incident is a good example (full story below). What does Quraan say about forgiveness? God’s favorite human is the one who forgives, is it not?  Forgiving disengages one from malice and liberates one to be free.

3. Reaction – Had Muslims not reacted violently across the globe, and followed the example of prophet – hold a prayer meeting, invite the press, and say prayers for the miscreants. You know what that would do? It will not tempt any one, anymore to do such despicable acts; it is no more fun to them, as Muslims will not react.

Here is a piece Imam Zia and I co-authored way back in September 2010.   http://wisdomofreligion.blogspot.com/2010/09/quraan-burning-appeal-to-muslims.html it was also published in Huffington post.

CAIR responds positively, it does not discriminate any Muslim

I just (9:00 PM, March 6, 2012) spoke with Mr. Ibrahim Hooper; apparently he was upset about something else, and took it out on me. However he came back and said he was sorry and that is fine with me. I understand the daily pressures he goes through at CAIR, but to jump on me, who was defending CAIR was not kosher. He did not even read the first paragraph, which I read to him and is appended below.

As Muslims we need to go beyond the personalities and look at the matter at hand and find solutions. We are fine now.

As a Muslim you would defend any false charges against Islam, and same goes with an organization that has become a representative of Muslims. I have been consistently doing this for nearly a decade. Look up Worldnet site, quite extensive interviews on there; I have stood up for CAIR on Hannity show many a times and done that on my forums particularly at the WorldMuslimCongress@yahoogroups.com

On my part, I have and I will continue to stand up for any one from Atheist to Zoroastrian and every one in between including the native and earth based traditions.

Discussions aside, here is the bottom line:

CAIR does not discriminate against any Muslim, he said, CAIR will even defend the Civil rights of Jews, Hindus and others. I am copying this to CAIR reps and if it is different, we will add their correct version here to reflect their exact position.

All I wanted was one single statement or link to their policy manual that they do not discriminate. It will put an end to the criticism leveled at CAIR every where. All of this was not necessary.

Mr. Hooper insisted that I give his cell phone number (202) 744-7726 and he will deal with anyone who has a problem.

He is indeed the spokesperson, but the ownership of CAIR belongs to the community. CAIR claims it represents Muslims, and the depth of that phrase needs to be understood.

Here is that statement, CAIR fights against bigotry and will reject any suggestion that a Muslim be denied Justice because one is not Muslim enough. Should someone seek help of CAIR, they will not deny it to any one, particularly if someone calls himself or herself a Muslim. They are welcome to clarify it. The suggestions floated here sound like bigotry; i.e. if you are taken into an emergency room of a hospital, you should get the medical care only if you are American enough.

Muslims condemn the bigotry of Maulana Zahidur Rashidi against Ahmadiyya Muslims.

As Muslims we question the statement made by Maulana Zahidur Rashidi, it goes against the very grain of Islam; Peace. He offers two choices to fellow Pakistanis, “Be Killed or Repent and Accept Islam.”

Maulana needs to be taken into custody for inciting violence against a people for their belief. The Ahmadiyya Muslims are being terrorized in their own country.

Shame on our hypocrisy, we rightfully scream against Israel for the mistreatment of Palestinians, what is wrong with us not do the same against other human beings, whether they are Muslims or not? Why should anyone stand up for you, if you are not willing to stand up for others?

Killing one person is like killing the whole humanity, says the Quraan, do these men believe in it? Maulana needs to be charged for abusing Quraan, however due process must be followed, he is innocent until proven guilty, and if he is found guilty, he needs to be in the prison.

Islam is a religion of peace and not a religion of bullying, harassing and terrorizing others. It is men like him who bring disgrace to the religion of peace and we should not let him destroy the character of our religion.

There is a saying that evil exists not necessarily because of evil men, but because good men do nothing about it. Prophet Muhammad, pbuh, reiterated the least you can do, is to speak up, and I am doing my share of the work.

Muslims together for Peaceful Islam

At Conference against Ahmadi Muslims, Renowned Pakistani Cleric Zahidur Rashidi Gives Two Scenarios for Future: Be Killed or Repent and Accept Islam
Pakistani cleric Zahidur Rashidi
Ahmadi Muslims in Pakistan were declared to be non-Muslims under a law enacted in 1974 by Pakistani Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto. The law paved the way for social ridicule and religious discrimination of Ahmadis in Pakistan, who are pejoratively dismissed as Ahmadis or as Qadianis, after the town of Qadian in northern India where the Ahmadiyya movement began. Islamic clerics accuse the Ahmadi Muslims of not believing Prophet Muhammad to be the final prophet, and hence a strong religious movement is underway in Pakistan and also in India against Ahmadi Muslims.
In recent decades, Ahmadi Muslims have been publicly ridiculed in Pakistani society, attacked by Islamic extremists, and implicated under the blasphemy laws of Pakistan, which carry the death penalty. Islamic clerics have demanded that they be removed from government and military jobs, and Ahmadi Muslim students have been expelled from schools.
Ahmadi Muslims are legally prevented from calling themselves Muslims or describing their places of worship as mosques. Nobel Prize laureate for physics Dr. Abdus Salam, an Ahmadi Muslim, was not celebrated in Pakistan for his achievement; rather, even his grave in Pakistan was declared to belong to a non-Muslim.
In a recent article published on the popular Pakistani blog "Pak Tea House," Lahore-based lawyer Yasser Latif Hamdani called for recognizing Ahmadis as Muslims in line with the viewpoint of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founder of Pakistan. In the article, titled "Are Ahmadis Non-Muslims?" Hamdani stated: "I am forced to say that I am inclined to accept Jinnah's view and reject the collective wisdom of our sovereign legislature [that declared Ahmadis as non-Muslims]."
In another article, titled "Qadianis Should Join the Mainstream of Muslims," renowned Pakistani Islamic scholar Maulana Zahidur Rashidi, secretary-general of Pakistan Shariat Council, cited a case of a local mosque in Gujarat where "Muslims and Qadianis [Ahmadi Muslims] used to pray together, until 1974, when the Pakistani parliament banned them as non-Muslims."
Islamic clerics say that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908), the spiritual leader of Ahmadi Muslims, claimed to be a prophet. In his article, Maulana Zahidur Rashidi recalls a conference in which he says he told Ahmadi Muslims of two scenarios for the future that awaited those claiming prophethood: "Addressing them, I told them that at the time of the Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him) four people had claimed to be prophets and had gathered a crowd of their followers; two of them were killed, while the others expressed repentance and accepted Islam."
Following are excerpts from Yasser Latif Hamdani's article[1]; following that are excerpts from Islamic scholar Zahidur Rashidi's article:[2]
Article by Yasser Latif Hamdani, December 15, 2011
"Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's National Assembly Imagined Itself the Islamic Equivalent of the Council of Nicaea; [It] Saw It Fit – Primarily at the Instigation of the Prime Minister [Bhutto] and His Law Minister – To Declare an Entire Sect [of Ahmadi Muslims as] Non-Muslim"
"This week [in mid-December 2011] the Large Hadron Collider at CERN [in Switzerland] inched closer to the discovery of the Higgs Boson, or the God Particle as it were. In this extraordinary story of human achievement, Dr. Abdus Salam is a key player who put Pakistan on the map of theoretical physics. In his homeland though, a group of self-styled champions of Islam have started a posthumous campaign of scurrilous slander claiming that Dr. Salam was giving out nuclear secrets.
"Forget that even a confirmed bigot like General Zia [-ul-Haq, the military ruler of Pakistan] held a ceremony in our only Nobel Prize winner's honor, or that no one ever accused Dr. Salam of any such thing; in Pakistan to be a hero you have to actually transfer technology to Iran, Libya, and North Korea.
"Now consider the case of 11-year-old Sitara Akbar [who set world records passing O-Level mathematics, English, and science]. Every Pakistani and his mother in law are citing her as a crowning national achievement, blissfully oblivious of the fact that she is an Ahmadi. To them her religion is suddenly unimportant or irrelevant, or is it? How many Sitara Akbars have been expelled from our schools for being Ahmadi? How many productive citizens of this republic have been killed and maimed for believing differently?
"Zulfikar Ali Bhutto's National Assembly imagined itself the Islamic equivalent of the Council of Nicaea [council of bishops]. Just as that ancient bastion of Christian orthodoxy excommunicated Unitarian Christians for not believing in the trinity of the father, son and the Holy Ghost, the National Assembly [the lower house of Pakistani parliament] saw it fit – primarily at the instigation of the Prime Minister [Bhutto] and his law minister – to declare an entire sect [of Ahmadi Muslims as] non-Muslim.… Pakistan's National Assembly located Islam in the principle of the finality of Prophethood [i.e. that Muhammad was the last prophet of god].
"This act of our sovereign legislature stood in sharp contrast to the view of this nation's founding father. On 5 May, 1944, in response to demands of the orthodox vis-a-vis Ahmadis, [Pakistan's founder M. A.] Jinnah made it absolutely clear that anyone who professes to be a Muslim is a Muslim and [is] welcome in the Muslim League and that those who were raising the issue [of Ahmadi Muslims not being Muslims] were trying to divide the Muslims."
"Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the Founding Father of Pakistan [Said] that Ahmadis are Muslims, If They Say They are Muslims and No One, Not Even the Sovereign Legislature, has the Right to Say Otherwise"
"Here I am forced to say that I am inclined to accept Jinnah's view and reject the collective wisdom of our sovereign legislature. There are several reasons which may be cited in this regard:
"First and foremost, Pakistan is bound by the United Nations charter. Therefore, Pakistan is bound to ensure freedom of religion for all its citizens; and freedom of religion means freedom of religion according to the definition of the subject of the said freedom.
"Identity is subjective, not objective. The state of Pakistan or any other state cannot tell an Ahmadi that he is not a Muslim because it is intrinsic to the faith of an Ahmadi. This is an inviolable, inalienable right as part of right to life which every state in the world is bound to protect. If Ahmadis say they are Muslims, they ought to be accepted as such.
"Pakistan is a signatory to the ICCPR [International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights] and without reservations since June 2011. Therefore every piece of legislation that discriminates against Ahmadis or forces a label upon them [of being non-Muslim] is ultra vires the ICCPR.
"The Islamic argument: According to the Holy Prophet (PBUH) anyone who utters the Kalima Shahadah is a Muslim. None of the Kalimas, including the Primary Kalima Shahadah contains any reference to the principle of the finality of Prophethood as understood by the Muslim majority today.
"Finally, because by conduct and promise, [the] Pakistani state is stopped from claiming otherwise. In 1947, Pakistan laid claim to Qadian [now a town in Indian Punjab] as a Muslim holy place, a counter-blast to Sikh claims on Nankana Sahib and Hassan Abdal [both in Pakistan now]. Similarly in the 1946 elections, which is the basic referendum on the question of Pakistan, Ahmadi votes were instrumental in getting Muslims Pakistan. These are undeniable facts of history.
"Therefore, fully aware of the stigma attached to this statement, I concur with Quaid-e-Azam [Great Leader] Muhammad Ali Jinnah, the founding father of Pakistan that Ahmadis are Muslims if they say they are Muslims and no one, not even the sovereign legislature, has the right to say otherwise."
Article by Zahidur Rashidi, January 2, 2012
"Muslims and Qadianis Used to Pray Jointly in This Mosque [in Gujarat District] … Until 1974, When the Parliament [of Pakistan] Declared Qadianis to be Non-Muslim"
"I had an opportunity to attend a meeting held in memory of the martyr Master Sarfaraz Ahmad, at Goleki village in Gujarat district [Pakistan], on December 24 [2011]. Master Sarfaraz Ahmad was martyred two months ago, on October 20, 2011, by indiscriminate shooting, and it is said that about 40-50 bullets were found in his body.
"Goleki is an old village where an ancient mosque is the apple of discord between Muslims and Qadianis [followers of the Ahmadiyya sect]. Master Sarfaraz Ahmad's two cousins were also martyred earlier in this regard. One Qadiani [i.e. Ahmadi Muslim] was also killed in this dispute, while another Muslim, Farhan Qayyum, was martyred.
"The mosque, which is about 350 years old, had been a prayer place for the Muslims from its very inception, but in 1922 the imam 'Imamudin' of this mosque became a follower of the Qadiani [sect], and then Qadianis got hold of the mosque. A member of his family, Akmal Qadiani, earned much fame due to a notorious couplet that he wrote in praise of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani [the founder of the sect]. The couplet makes a part of his poem in which, God forbid, he has said: 'Whoever wants to see Mohammad, [he] should see Ghulam Ahmad in Qadian.'
"Muslims and Qadianis used to pray jointly in this mosque… until 1974, when the Parliament [of Pakistan] declared Qadianis to be non-Muslim and the two – Muslims and Qadianis – began praying separately, and separate arrangements were made in the mosque itself.
"In 1992, at the time of the reconstruction of the mosque, the dispute between Muslims and Qadianis took a severe turn, and Qadianis forcefully dislodged Muslims from the mosque. [In return], the Muslims went to court, and the magistrate of the area, Iliyas Gul, sealed the mosque, which is still sealed to this day.
"The martyr Master Sarfraz Ahmad was a plaintiff from the Muslim side, and that is why he became the target. His second 'crime' was that he held a lecture of the emissary of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat [movement, which enforces the belief that the Prophet Muhammad is the last Prophet], Hazrat Maulana Manzoor Ahmad Chineoti, inviting him to Goleki village. That is why Master Sarfaraz Ahmad was pressured by various corners to drop the case, but he did not agree to it.
"It is reported that he was attacked five times… and that in the last attack he was martyred. He was seriously wounded, along with his younger brother, in an attack in 1999, while one of his cousins was martyred. In 2001, another of his cousins was martyred. Farhan Qayyum was martyred in a clash in 2001 and Master Sarfaraz Ahmad was arrested on charges of killing a Qadiani that year, and was sentenced to life imprisonment, but the High Court released him."
"[At An Anti-Ahmadi Conference, Two Islamic Clerics Expressed] Their Solidarity and Unanimity with the Martyrs of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat [i.e. Those Who Died Fighting Ahmadi Muslims], and the Two Leaders Assured Them Full Cooperation"
"Against this backdrop, a 'Conference of the Martyrs of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat' was held in Goleki on October 20, 2011 [the writer seems to say December 24, 2011] to remember these martyrs. This [conference] was held by Jamiat Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat of Gujarat district. Jamiat Ahl-e-Sunnat is an organization of the youth clerics of Gujarat. The youth clerics of the Deobandi school of thought have also been associated with the united religious campaign. One of my dear ones, Maulana Mohammad Umar Usmani, a young cleric and a graduate of Jamia Nusratul Uloom [seminary], is at the fore of this campaign, and belongs to my in-laws' village Galiana in Khariyan Tehseel.
"I very much like three or four things being done by these young clerics of Gujarat district. One, they take interest in any kind of religious and sectarian issues and play a proactive role; second, they make efforts to hold conferences from time to time by inviting the clerics from their school of thought, especially those young clerics who are fresh graduates from different Jamiat [religious institutions]; and the third is that they work under the aegis of old clerics rather than keeping away from them; they constantly keep consulting with them and also accept their suggestions in practice.
"There is one more good thing that they do: They keep in contact with various internal coteries of the clerics of the Deobandi school of thought; they don't differentiate between their struggles and try to make efforts taking them along, which also increases their strength.
"In my view, these three and four things are so important that if they are put into practice at any place with sincerity then the distance and void due to the majority of the Deobandi school of thought in different intellectual and training circles, which has increased more, could be lessened to a great extent.
"However, I attended the Conference of Martyrs of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat at Goleki. The chief of Alami Majlis Khatm-e-Nabuwwat [the International Council for Protecting the Finality of the Prophethood], Maulana Allah Wasaya, gave a detailed lecture, and another prominent leader of the Majlis, Maulana Azizur Rahman Sani, also spoke. Expressing their solidarity and unanimity with the martyrs of Khatm-e-Nabuwwat [i.e. those who died fighting Ahmadi Muslims], the two leaders expressed their condolences to the families of martyrs and assured them of their full cooperation, and exposed the anti-national designs of the Qadianis."
"I Told Them [i.e. Ahmadi Muslims] That At the Time of the Prophet Muhammad… Four People Had Claimed to Be Prophets and Had Gathered a Crowd of Their Followers; Two of Them Were Killed, While the Others Expressed Repentance and Accepted Islam"
"Taking advantage of the occasion, this writer spoke on other aspects of the issue, keeping in view the large Qadiani population in that village, and invited them to think with a cool head about their future with regard to this world and Hereafter.
"Addressing them, I told them that at the time of Prophet Mohammad (peace be upon him), four people had claimed to be prophets and had gathered a crowd of their followers; two of them were killed, while the others expressed repentance and accepted Islam. Those who were killed were Musailmah Kazzab and Aswad Unsa, while those who entered into the fold of Islam were Taliha bin Khawilad Asadi (RA) and a woman called Sajjah.
"The two came into the fold of Islam and spent their last days as good Muslims. I call upon the Qadianis to follow the path of Taliha and Sajjah, leaving the path of Musailmah and Aswad Unsa and repenting of their false faith, and come back into mainstream Islam; they will be our Muslim brethren.
"I call upon the Qadianis or Lahoris [residents of Lahore] saying, whatever group they may come from, to think over this aspect: that the official doctor of Nawab of Khairpur, the [Khairpur] state that had not been accessed in Pakistan at that time, was one of our respected revered man Maulana Hakim Hayat Ali Chishti, who belonged to Mirpur in [Pakistan-controlled] Azad Kashmir and was a disciple of Mufti Kefayatullah Dehlavi [of Delhi]. His son Maulana Dr. Akhtaruzzaman Ghauri, who lives in Birmingham, in Britain, told me in person that the official doctors of Nawab of Khairpur along with Hakim Sahab were Qadianis and used to meet each other based on those grounds.
"One day, Hakim Sahib told Dr. Sahab that Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani had explicitly written that he was a melancholia patient, and both of us are well aware that a melancholic considers himself no less than a god, and that due to this mental disease, he is helpless not to make such claims. I can understand the reason behind such claims of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani due to his continuous melancholia, but you, on the other hand, are not suffering from this disease of melancholia, and you are well aware of the disease, and so I wonder how you can believe the claims of Mirza Ghulam Ahmad Qadiani.
"Dr. Ghauri said that Maulana Hayat Ali Chishti hit the target, and that two or three days later, Dr. Sahab came to Hakim Sahib and told him that now he could understand things better; therefore he made repentance over Qadianiyat [the Ahmadiyya faith] and accepted Islam.

"In my view, if today's Qadianis think over the issue from this angle, then they will also understand things."

Re: Muslims together - Ahamdiyya Muslims

( THIS IS NOT AN ARTICLE, BUT A DISCUSSION)

AA

Mateen and members of the discussion
Thanks for keeping up with the discussion, I have always longed for civil discussions among Muslims, and I am glad we do our best to carry that out at World Muslim Congress. Your contribution is appreciated as well. This should be the spirit of discussion.
You noted, "But please do not enforce Qadiani beliefs into Islam." First of all who is enforcing anything on any one? It is a mere discussion, however, If you meant, "don't share their belief" I can understand that and I am not sharing any one's belief, as all beliefs are their own.

May I ask, why reject their belief, and for what?
You have referenced books and research work on it,
but let's make it simple.
Did Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) say that his Ummah will be eventually split into 72 ( 73) groups? If it is a wrong Hadith, let me know. If he did say that, why are we not being inclusive? He did not tell anyone to ex-communicate those who do not follow the authority of his authorized agents. He did not even define the circle or daera of the 72 - 72 was just a metaphoric number to indicate too many.

Prophet did not know what is Sunni or Shia either, they did not exist then. All of us from Ahamdiyya, Bohra, Sunni, Ismaili, Shia, Sufi, Deen Muhammad, Wahhabi and other variations have over be 90% commonalities - with no more than two or three differences. There are those among us who put their foreheads on the graves of Aulia Allah,  believe that the promised Messiah has come, ask for help from others, other than Allah, there are those who have destroyed the house where Prophet Muhammad was born, it was a collective heritage of Muslims... we are different and we need to hold a large umbrella over all of us. Lets' reciting bismilla every moment mean some thing to us, let prophet be a rahmat to all of us, let one pray with hands folded, dropped or raised... they all worship Allah.
Ahmadiyya are not taking away anything from any one, they are living their own lives, indeed, their good work is enhancing the collective good works of Muslims. They have earned a good name around the US communities with their initiatives and they add value to the overall Muslim community.
My only gain from this effort is for us Muslims to earn the title of Amin, Kind, merciful and good human beings. Our stance towards Ahmadiyya Muslims takes away the fullness of goodness about Muslims. We have strayed away from being non-judgmental to judgmental beings. We have to do the inner Jihad and rid of our pettiness, ill-will and malice. Am I wrong? Are you willing to rise above the fray?
I am a Muslim, and I do not judge people and hope you don't either.

Jazak Allah Khair

Dear Mr. Ghouse, I am reading this discussion with interest. I am sorry to say, it appears that you and your participants of this discussion are unaware of the truth and facts about this topic. I suggest you and the participants should read a very informative and well researched book "Qadiani Mazhab ka Ilmi Mahasaba" by Prof. Muhammad Ilyas Burney of Usmania University, Hyderabad. This book (of 9944 pages)
which I have is published by Sheikh Muhammad Ashraf, Aibak Road, Kashmiri Bazar, Lahore Pakistan. This book, which was first started as a humble thin pamphlet (in 1352 Hijri) is now more authentic source about Qadianism. The writer quoted from only Qadiani literature. books, papers, magazines and other documents, some of which are not even known to an ordinary Qadiani. I am sure if you (I hope you read Urdu) and others after reading this book, will realised that "hein kuakab kuch, bazar aatey hein kuch" . Mr. Ghouse, I appreciate your good intentions of creating harmony among different faiths. But please do not enforce Qadiani beliefs into Islam. Let them enjoy their own path and thinking, they have the right to do so without
interfering in our religion. May Allah show you all the right path "..siraatal lazina 'an 'amta 'alay him,
ghairlul magzhuubi 'alaiy-him wa laz zaalliin, amen".

AA
Nasrullah Bhai,
I guess you missed reading my note from earlier... Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) listened to a variety of faiths, his faith did not change. As a follower, I am engaged with Atheists to Zoroastrians and every one in between, my faith in Islam has gotten stronger and stronger... not by denigrating or devaluing others faiths, but by appreciating them, that they also, like me, praise the God.
Ahamdiyya Muslim's pledge is the same La Ilaha Illalah Muhamaddur Rasool Allah as yours and mine. Irfan and I have shared more details... within each strand of Islam, we differ, Shia, Sunni, Alhle--- different things, Wahhabi, Ismaili and Bohra, we have to allow the difference of Ahamdiyya, we are all in this together with variation. Aren't we?

Shame on those Muslims who push God from his chair and take over judgment from him. I am answerable to God for my Aamals, just as you. No one is going to bear others burden. Is it wrong?

Declaring other Muslims Kafir is shirk, you are not God. You are committing a major shirk by declaring them wrong, and they are wrong as well to call other Muslims as non-Muslims. Who the hell are you or me to declare other Muslims not Muslims? No ulema, no scholar, no Imam has that right but Allah, do you agree with it?
When you can kiss ass with Jews, Christians and others, at least be nice to Ahamdiyya, it is the human thing and the right thing to do. Let them believe whatever they want to believe, what is it to you or I? What do you lose? Are you responsible for their belief? Your idea of Ahmadies going to hell is as legitimate as the idea of Christians believing (by the way they are a larger majority) that you and I go to hell if we don't follow Jesus? Does that make them right? Does it make you right?
I hope you understand the essence of Islam and Quraan, it is not a political entity, it is a deen that bring peace to mankind, it is universal, aalameen, all inclusive, all embracing religion.
Discussion is different than being judgmental, please become a discussant sans judgement...
Jazak Allah Khair

Rashid Jahangiri - Please note that your comments will not be posted on the groups, as they are not discussions. If you write in civil terms, it will be posted. Please consider reciting ÇåÏöäóÜÜÜÜÇ ÇáÕøöÑóÇØó ÇáãõÓÊóÞöíãó (1:6) before you write.
Aurangzeb Khan - most of your postings get posted as long as you remain in the realm of discussion, when you resort to an un-civil language, your item will not be posted. Please consider reciting ÇåÏöäóÜÜÜÜÇ ÇáÕøöÑóÇØó ÇáãõÓÊóÞöíãó (1:6) before you write
Mohammad Mahmood - I pray for you to have a strong emaan. Do you know, following the example of the prophet I have had discussions with every religious scholar, and every time, my faith deepens knowing that every one is seeking the truth; and that is to find peace within and peace with others. I hope you have a strong enough faith to hear all points of view... if you are afraid to know about Ahmadiyya, you should not be a part of it. Please consider reciting ÇåÏöäóÜÜÜÜÇ ÇáÕøöÑóÇØó ÇáãõÓÊóÞöíãó (1:6) before you write.
As a Muslim, I have an obligation to speak up against injustice towards fellow beings, including Ahmadiyya, Shia, Sunni, Bohra, Ismaili and others. Justice is the core value of Islam, where there is justice, there is peace aka Islam. I hope you stand up for every one as well.
Some one wrote earlier, what you believe, most of it is by default. There are 2 Billion Christians and a billion Hindus - they are so because they were born in their faith and you are a Muslim because your born in your family. A good percentage convert as well, and most of it is their choice. If you were born in an Ahmadiyya family, you would have been one... denigrating them is not what Islam teaches. May God help you remove the bias, ill-will and prejudice you have against other human beings.
Jazak Allah Khair
Thank you.

Thanks for the note. As a Muslim, I'm involved in interfaith dialogue with people of all religions; wasn't that a tradition of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh)?
Prophet had conversations with Christians, Jews and his own Pagan family members, in his own Mosque despite the fact that they had rejected everything prophet believed. Did he run off? Was he worried about other people's judgment? He even let them pray in his Mosque, their own prayers that he did not agree with, didn't he?
Didn't prophet teach us to speak with others in respectable ways? If he did not, I am okay with your approach towards Ahamdiyya.
I continue to speak and write in all places of worship and humbly share, that Alhamdu Lillah, today there are more Atheists, Baha'i, Buddhist, Christians, Hindus, Jains, Jews, Sikhs, Wicca, Native Americans and Zoroastrians who are less biased towards Muslims as they learn with me.
In the tradition of Prophet Muhammad, the peace maker, I am pleased to follow in his footstep in mitigating conflicts and nurturing goodwill. If I am dealing with every religious group, it would be wrong for me not to engage with Ahmadiyya Muslims. As a Muslim, I am conditioned to believe that Imam Mahdi will come someday, where as the Ahmadiyya are conditioned to believe that that Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmed is the promised Messiah. I am sure you are conditioned a certain way as well. We don't have to be agreeing to be good to fellow Muslims. Other than this difference, I do not see much to fight over.

Many a Muslims kiss ass with Jews and Christians, but have a deep hatred for fellow Muslims; the Ahmadiyya Muslims.

If I were to kiss ass of conservative Muslims, I would have had a larger following, however, I am content with the majority, indeed an overwhelming majority of Muslims who are moderate and are sane people. They want to get along with everyone, don't want to be judgmental about others, and don't reduce Allah and Muhammad, from Rabbul and Rahmatul Aalameen to Muslimeen. You are welcome to do it, I have no problems with it. I believe in free will (Q2:256).

God is not yours or my property, and we do not own Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) or Islam either – they are for the Aalameen, just like the air and water, they belong to all of us, every one of us. Neither you nor I can posses them and reduce them to ours.
I have an open mind to hear different points of view and there are many like me. If you are not secure enough in your faith, please don't read, just hit the delete button.

On Sunday, I am speaking at the Ahmadiyya Mosque in Allen at Noon about Prophet Muhammad, the ultimate peace maker. Any one is welcome to hear. If you organize a group, I will be happy to speak at your place. A part of it is at: http://www.indianmuslimobserver.com/2012/02/prophet-muhammad-pbuh-peace-maker.html

Mission of World Muslim Congress

Preface

To be a Muslim is to be a peace maker, one who seeks to mitigate conflicts and nurtures goodwill for peaceful co-existence of humanity.

God: The Creator wants nothing more than preserving the universe he created to be in balance and functioning cohesively, Qur'an 55:1-13. Everything in nature is designed to run precisely like the planets and the seasons, however humans were given the freewill to figure out the balance and co-exist in harmony. Indeed, the freewill creates anomalies and conflicts, and it is up to humans to manage and preserve that elusive equilibrium.  The world was created with a formula of 99% to 1% perfection and  anomalies respectively, and that ratio will be there forever. (The % is our personal observation and not an empirical data).

Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) was an ultimate peacemaker, he was divinely inspired to find solutions for peaceful coexistence. Whenever and wherever he saw conflicts, his attitude was conflict mitigation and goodwill nurturence. (http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mike-ghouse/how-i-connect-with-prophet-muhammad_b_2547782.html) Justice and Mercy ran through his veins.

Humans - We  are driven by  Qur'an, Al-Hujurat, Surah 49:13: "O mankind! We have created you male and female, and have made you nations and tribes that ye may know one another. The noblest of you, in sight of Allah, is the best in conduct. Allah Knows and is Aware."

God has deliberately created us into many from one, he knows that creates conflicts and then he says, the best ones are those who take time to know each other, indeed,  knowledge leads to understanding and understanding to acceptance and appreciation of a different points of view.

Qur'an is a book of Guidance for humanity, and it is soaked in universal message of mercy and justice.  Don't look to it as the book of Muslims, it is indeed a self-help manual to build cohesive societies where no human has to live in apprehension or fear of the other.

Beware of the mistranslations. The Qur'an had been purposely mistranslated down through history. In the Middle Ages, European leaders commissioned a hostile Qur'an translation to foster warfare against Muslim invaders (1142 AD). Later, Muslim leaders produced another translation (1924)  to inflame Muslims against Christians and Jews. It was all for politics. The guys should be hung for messing the world balance. ( In defense of Islam, pursuing a civil dialogue http://www.dallasnews.com/news/columnists/steve-blow/20100919-In-defense-of-Islam-pursuing-9397.ece).

A Quran conference was held in Dallas to clear the air about 60 mistranslated verse and the furor about it at with Pastor Jeffress. www.QuraanConference.com

Our Mission

Our Mission at world Muslim congress is to work for a world of co-existence through inclusiveness and participation. As a member of diverse family of faiths, our efforts will be directed towards justice and equity to attain peace for the humankind with a firm grounding in commonly held values. We cannot have advantages at the cost of others. Such benefits are temporary and deleterious to lasting peace. We believe what is good for Muslims has got to be good for the world, and vice versa, for the goodness to sustain.

Indeed we aspire to promote goodwill amongst people of different affiliations, regardless of their faith, gender, race, nationality, culture or any other uniqueness blessed by the creator.

Our Goals

Our short term goal is to understand different faiths and let the values of Islam be understood as well. We know very little about other faiths just as other know almost nothing about Islam. The idea is to know each other, so we can be good to each other. When we learn about each other myths disappear and solutions emerge.

Our Long term goal is simply to bring a realization that the purpose of all religions is to bring peace and tranquility to an individual and further create a balanced relationships between the individual, society and the environment. Learning about other faiths need not imply infidelity, but rather the search will enrich one's own faith, it reaffirms the idea that the intent of every faith is to "fix" the individual as an active working and participating spoke in the wheel of life. Most people get it and a few don't.

Muslims are not a monolithic lot, a majority of us are like a majority of any group; minding our own business - taking care of family, raising children, their schooling, job, a home to live and retire comfortable. Its an American dream and it is a Muslim dream.

A few among Muslims and a few among Christians and other faiths are bent on converting people to their faiths. However, most people believe in free will, let people believe what comforts them. Every one is endowed with freedom to eat, drink, wear and believe what is good for him or her in the pursuit of their happiness.

American Muslim Agenda - http://www.huffingtonpost.com/mike-ghouse/american-muslim-agenda-a-_b_5528706.html
Islam defined

The essence of Islam: Justice for every human being under one Creator (Universe is the only creation we know)

The Qur'aan starts with the word "God of Universe" (not necessarily Muslims) and ends with "Humankind" (and again not Muslims). As such it is understood that God, the cause behind creation of life and matter belongs to all of us. No one owns him (her or it) nor does one group has an exclusive favors over the other. The creator will offer equal opportunities to all and will not sign a deal behind one's back with the other.

Al-Fatiha (The Opening) 1:2 All praise is due to God alone, the Sustainer of all the worlds, [2] Alhamdu lillahi rabbi alAAalameen

الْحَمْدُ للّهِ رَبِّ الْعَالَمِينَ (1:2)

An-Nas (The Mankind) 114:1 SAY: "I seek refuge with the Sustainer of men,
قُلْ أَعُوذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِ (114:1

We have a monumental task to repair the World, and we will do our share in working towards a World of co-existence, one person at a time. We are committed, and now help us God do the right thing; where none of your creation has to live in apprehension of fear of the other. Amen.

Good Deeds

Islam teaches one to be non-judgmental, and consistently encourages individuals to do good. It emphasizes about individual responsibility towards the peace and security of society at large.

Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) described a good deed as an act which benefits others, such as planting a tree that serves generations of wayfarers with fruit and the shade. The world is a better place today because of a good legacy bequeathed to humanity by people of all faiths that came before us. We owe it to coming generations to leave the world a little better than we found it, to usher an era of justice and peace.

With Prejudice towards none

Almost all Muslims are cognizant and repeat the verse “God is the master of the Day of Judgment, and he alone we worship”. A fully observant Muslim recites this verse anywhere from 17 times to 51 times a day and refrains from judging others, as he or she believes God only can make that call. There is no compulsion in the matters of faith, says  the Qur'aan. Our Jihad, the inner struggle is to resit the temptations to judge others. Most Muslims do, a few don't.

Al-Fatiha (The Opening) 1:4 Lord of the Day of Judgment!

مَـالِكِ يَوْمِ الدِّينِ (1:4)

Individual responsibility

Qur'an, Al-An'am, Surah 6:163-164: I ask whether I should seek any god besides God--when he is the Lord of all things. All people will reap the harvest of their own deeds; no one will bear another’s burden. Ultimately, all of you will return to your Lord, and he will resolve your disputes.

There shall be no compulsion in matters of faith, you are not responsible for my beliefs and you  should not be concerned about what I believe. Per Islam, only God has the right to judge my faith and my deeds, and we are told in no uncertain terms that we are individually responsible for our acts on the Day of Judgment (A requisite belief) and no one, not even our Prophet, our siblings, parents, family or friends would have the time or the right to stand up for us, we are responsible and we are all alone.

The society is responsible to contain us from hurting the social fabric through our conduct like lying, stealing, cheating, robbing, hurting, breach of contract, infidelity and other acts that affect others. In the matters of belief,  it will be God who judges.

Al-An'am (The Cattle)

6:163 in whose divinity none has a share: for thus have I been bidden-and I shall [always] be foremost among those who surrender themselves unto Him."
Topics discussed in this Verse:

[Allah:has no partner] [Allah's attributes:Cherisher and Sustainer

Al-An'am (The Cattle)

6:164 Say: "Am I, then, to seek a sustainer other than God, when He is the Sustainer of all things?" And whatever [wrong] any human being commits rests upon himself alone; and no bearer of burdens shall be made to bear another's burden. [163] And, in time, unto your Sustainer you all must return: and then He will make you. [truly] understand all that on which you were wont to differ. [164]

Al-An'am (The Cattle)

6:165 For, He it is who has made you inherit the earth, [165] and has raised some of you by degrees above others, so that He might try you by means of what He has bestowed upon you. [166] Verily, thy Sustainer is swift in retribution: yet, behold, He is indeed much-forgiving, a dispenser of grace.

[Allah:raises people to ranks (degrees)] [Allah's attributes:Most Merciful] [Allah's attributes:Oft_Forgiving] [Allah's attributes:Quick in punishment] [Trials and tests] [Vicegerent creation of]

A Just society

Islam emerged to bring peace, tranquility and equilibrium to the multitudes of tribes at conflict with each other in the 6th century AD. In a period of 23 years, thru suffering, persecution and sacrifice a just society evolved. Diversity was it’s basis, respecting each tradition and bringing them together and appreciating the creator was the foundation stone of Islam. Justice, liberty and freedom are the core values enshrined in Islam.

Pluralism

Islam is indeed a pluralistic faith and imbues a sense of humility and ideals of equality of humankind. These values are embedded in its rituals practices. All people harvest their own deeds.

He fashioned each one of you--and each one of you is beautiful. To God you will all return. He knows all that the heavens and the earth contain. He knows all that you hide and all that you reveal. He knows your deepest thoughts. Most of us get the message whereas a few don't, indeed it is the story of every faith group.

At-Taghabun (Loss and Gain)

64:1 ALL THAT IS in the heavens and all that is on earth extols God's limitless glory: His is all dominion, and to Him all praise is due; and He has the power to will anything.

64:2 He it is who has created you: and among you are such as deny this truth, and among you are such as believe [in it]. [1] And God sees all that you do. هُوَ الَّذِي خَلَقَكُمْ فَمِنكُمْ كَافِرٌ وَمِنكُم مُّؤْمِنٌ وَاللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ (64:2)

64:3 He has created the heavens and the earth in accordance with [an inner] truth, [2] and has formed you - and formed you so well; [3] and with Him is your journey's end.

64:4 He knows all that is in the heavens and on earth; and He knows all that you keep secret as well as all that you bring into the open: for God has full knowledge of what is in the hearts [of men].

64:5 HAVE THE STORIES of those who, in earlier times, refused to acknowledge the truth never yet come within your ken? [They denied it -] and so they had to taste the evil outcome of their own doings, [4] with [more] grievous suffering awaiting them [in the life to come]:
أَلَمْ يَأْتِكُمْ نَبَأُ الَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا مِن قَبْلُ فَذَاقُوا وَبَالَ أَمْرِهِمْ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ (64:5

MADINAH PACT

The Madinah pact, prescribes the rights of its Citizens,  an initiative of Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) while he was the head of the city state of Madinah. It is probably the first legal document offering the format of pluralistic governance.

It was an all inclusive agreement between the Jews, Christians, Sabeans, Quraish, Muslims and other tribes for a peaceful co-existence. An example was set for a pluralistic society in documenting the rights of individuals. Perhaps it was the first historical document that included diverse people with freedom to practice what they believe. The Word Ummah was used in the document to mean all residents of the City.
Freedom

God could have made us all alike; instead he chose to make us humans, giving guidance on one hand, temptations on the other – then giving room to make mistakes, and room for correction. Islam has not claimed monopoly to heaven; it is assured to those who do good deeds. Good deeds are defined by Prophet Mohammad (pbuh) as how your treat others. He told his daughter that it would be her deeds that would earn her a place in the Kingdom of God and not because she is the daughter of the Prophet. There is no free lunch, you have to take responsibility for your actions and earn the grace of God through serving his creation.

Qur'an, Al-Inshiqaq, Surah 84:7-15: Each person will be given a book. Those who are given their books in their right hands (understanding the book correctly) will be judged leniently; and they will return to their people joyfully. But those who are given their books in their left hands (misunderstanding) will call their own destruction on themselves, and burn in the fire of hell. There are the people who have never cared for their neighbors; they thought they would never return to God. Their Lord watches all that people do.

For Millions of years, the physical dimension of the Universe has existed in a perfect balance as it did not have the ego to compete with each other nor had the freedom to mess with it. They do, what God intended them to do. It is the human dimension that needed religion, and every religion is meant to bring peace to individuals and balance to the world around them through free choice.

God willing, the Muslim community will be drawing the blue prints and developing a 14 year plan to find their space in the world of communities, as contributors and active participants in the peaceful co-existence for the people of the World. The Book “Muslim Vision 2020” is on the horizon.

The human desire to monopolize World resources is the root cause of all evil. The pockets of anarchy and problems of the world are born out of fear and insecurities of evil men. Religion is not the source of wars or conflict. In fact, Religion is the best Gift humans have received from God, without which the World would be chaotic.

Praise the Lord. We are pleased to announce the formation of The World Muslim Congress, A non-profit organization dedicated to promoting co-existence and contributing towards a just world. (Formed: 5/25/2006)

Our silence has done more damage to us, our faith and our World. Silent no more, God willing, we will resolutely take back our faith for our good and the good of mankind.

A Major Paradigm Shift

The world has indeed become a global community. Everyone is a neighbor to everyone else; we aspire to nurture the concept of good neighborliness in the world. Our advisory board will be represented by individuals from every faith. It is time for us to be equal citizens of one world, our home. This is a major paradigm shift in how the religious organizations would be conducting their business in the coming years.

Our upcoming website: www.WorldMuslimCongress.com will present a range of values in Islam. It is a shame that some of the translations of Qur’an contain phrases that are not in Qur’an. A dozen translations will be presented verse by verse, with the source. So you may know the truth!

Speak up, silent no more ®

Additional Notes

We are drawing the blue prints, and developing a 14 year plan to find our space in the world of communities, as contributors and active participants in the peaceful co-existence of the people of the World.

God willing (Insha Allah) by the September 11, we plan to role out a Seven point program achieving the mission encrusted in the press release below. We are driven by the thought "How can we make the world a better place for every one".

Nothing has ever happened without taking a step forward. The website www.WorldMuslimCongress.com is scheduled to be launched on Monday, September 11, 2006. It will be interactive and accommodative of diversity within Islam and aims to be a voice of the Majority of Muslims who chose moderation.

Islam is not a monolithic religion and has allowed diversity from its very inception. Justice, Liberty and freedom are its core values. God could have made us desire-less and sinless angels, instead he chose to make us human, giving guidance on one hand, temptations on the other – then giving room to make mistakes, and room to correct ourselves thru repentance. Forgiveness is a full cycle concept and not merely utterance of words. Hence, Islam is a deed based religion.

Our silence has done a lot more damage to us than the damage done by the extremists. We have a forum now to speak up and present the majority view to the world.

If you would like to join the discussions on any topic, please send your email request to:  WorldMuslimCongress-Subscribe@yahoogroups.com

Planned Muslim Response to Qur'an Burning by Pastor Jones on September 11 in Mulberry, Florida

PRESS RELEASE

PLANNED MUSLIMS RESPONSE TO QUR'AN BURNING BY PASTOR JONES ON 9/11/13 IN MULBERRY, FLORIDA

We as Muslims plan to respond to pastor Terry Jones' planned burning of 3000 copies of Quran on September 11, 2013 in positive terms.

Our response - we will reclaim the standard of behavior practiced by the Prophet concerning “scurrilous and hostile criticism of the Qur’an” (Muhammad Asad Translation Note 31, verse 41:34). It was "To overcome evil with good is good, and to resist evil by evil is evil." It is also strongly enjoined in the Qur’an in the same verse 41:34, “Good and evil deeds are not equal. Repel evil with what is better; then you will see that one who was once your enemy has become your dearest friend.”

God willing Muslims will follow the divine guidance and pray for the restoration of Goodwill, and on that day many Muslim organizations will go on a “blood drive” to save lives and serve humanity with kindness.

We invite fellow Americans of all faiths, races, and ethnicities to join us to rededicate the pledge, “One nation under God”, and to build a cohesive America where no American has to live in apprehension, discomfort or fear of fellow Americans. This event is a substitute for our 10th Annual Unity Day Celebration (www.UnitydayUSA.com) held in Dallas, but now it will be at Mulberry, Florida.

Unwittingly Pastor Jones has done us a favor by invigorating us by his decision to burn nearly 3000 copies Quran on September 11, 2013. Obviously he is not satisfied by the notoriety he garnered by burning one Qur'an last year.

As Muslims and citizens we honor the free speech guaranteed in our constitution. We have no intentions to criticize, condemn or oppose Pastor Terry Jones' freedom of expression. Instead, we will be donating blood and praying for goodness to permeate in our society.

We plan to follow Jesus Christ (pbuh), a revered prophet in Islam as well as Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) – that of mitigating the conflicts and nurturing good will for the common good of the society.

We hope, this event and the message will remind Muslims elsewhere in the world as well, that violence is not the way. Muslims, who react violently to senseless provocation, should realize that, violence causes more violence, and besmirches the name of the religion that we hold so dear. We believe that Prophet Muhammad was a mercy to the mankind, and we ought to practice what we believe and preach. We must not insult Islam by the negative reactions of a few.

We can only hope it will bring about a change in the attitude of the followers of Pastor Jones, and in the behavior of those Muslims who reacted violently the last time Pastor sought notoriety – We hope this small step towards a bridge to peaceful coexistence would propel us towards building a cohesive society.

Like most Americans a majority of Muslims quietly go about their own business, but it is time to speak up and take positive action instead of negative reaction. May this message of peace and goodwill reverberate and reach many shores.

Lastly, we appreciate the Citizens of Mulberry, Florida, Honorable Mayor George Hatch, City Commissioners, police and Fire Chiefs for handing this situation very well. This will add a ‘feather of peace’ in the City’s reputation. We hope Mulberry will be a catalyst in showing the way in handling conflict with dignity and peace.

We thank the Media for giving value to the work towards peace rather than conflict.

CIVIL DIALOGUE

The people in Dallas are making an effort to understand and clean their own hearts first, when we are free from bias, it would be easy to share that with others. Islam teaches us in so many ways to "respect the otherness of others" and it is time we find simple practical ways of doing it.
