Is Tolerance accepted in Islam?

A very thoughtful piece by Manzurul Haque is followed by my commentary;

Manzurul, you made a profound statement “The idea is that as Muslims we should have no difficulty in developing an attitude of tolerance towards some persons or some families, who are not entirely like us. The paramount need is to learn to co-exist.”

Islam is indeed tolerance. Qur’aan, Al-Hujurat, Surah 49:13: "O mankind! We have created you male and female, and have made you nations and tribes that ye may know one another. The noblest of you, in sight of Allah, is the best in conduct. Allah Knows and is Aware."

Our Mission at the World Muslim Congress is to work for a world of co-existence through inclusiveness and participation. As a member of diverse family of faiths, our efforts will be directed towards justice and equity to attain peace for the humankind with a firm grounding in commonly held values. We cannot have advantages at the cost of others. Such benefits are temporary and deleterious to lasting peace. We believe what is good for Muslims has got to be good for the world, and vice versa, to sustain it.

Indeed we aspire to promote goodwill amongst people of different affiliations, regardless of their faith, gender, race, nationality, culture or any other uniqueness blessed by the creator.
From your first paragraph, the idea of “Everything about nature is balance and equilibrium” Jumps at me.

55:6 [before Him] prostrate themselves the stars and the trees.
55:7 And the skies has He raised high, and has devised a measure,
55:8 so that you [too, O men,] might never transgress the measure
55:9 weigh, therefore, [your deeds] with equity, and cut not the measure short!
55:10 and the earth has He spread out for all living beings,
55:11 with fruit thereon, and palm trees with sheathed clusters [of dates],
55:12 and grain growing tall on its stalks, and sweet-smelling plants.

Everything in the cosmos, the solar system, the life (sperm to full being), from seed to the mature tree is a system, a precise system.

God caused matter and life. Matter is put on a trajectory, matter is designed to do what is set out to do, … the earth orbiting around the sun, the moon around the earth… the trees are to produce fruit… they are all doing the Sajda, doing what they are designed to do.

Life, on the other hand, especially the human one is not put on a trajectory, instead God gave us a brain to figure out how to survive the anomalies and how not to get washed away and survive and live in equilibrium.

God’s model of equilibrium is the matter… trillions of stars with their own unique space is living in harmony, without conflicts and collisions. Anomalies are built into it, so we can learn to accept our flaws as well.

So he expects us to create that co-existence and balance with the brains he has endowed us, while also giving us the temptations like greed, anger, fear and other elements. He also gave us manuals through different religions (Qur’aan uses a number of 124,000 of them to describe infinity) to figure out and create the harmony and balance. There comes “Al-Hujurat, Surah 49:13: "O mankind! We have created you male and female, and have made you nations and tribes that ye may know one another. The noblest of you, in sight of Allah, is the best in conduct. Allah Knows and is Aware."

Jumping to the Hindu way of life, shamefully, the Muslims, the Christians and Jews have an attitude towards Hindu way of honoring the divine. We talk about oneness of God in terms of physical being, where as God is not a being, not a thing and not an entity. If we can learn to accept and respect the God given uniqueness of each one of us, and honor every which way people have come to worship the divine, then conflicts fade and solutions emerge. That is indeed Islam, peace and submission.

If we were to ask Mr. Spock to analyze the religions, being unbiased and un-brainwashed he probably would sum up as

“The purpose of a religion is to create a balance within an individual and between that individual and what surrounds him or her. Being religious is being a peacemaker who constantly seeks to mitigate the conflicts and nurtures goodwill for peaceful co-existence. The creator wants his creation to live in peace and harmony and submitting (Islam) to his idea of peace, following (Christianity) his system or surrendering (Hinduism) to him is the purpose of religion, when you do that, everything is yours and you belong to every thing. It is this conflictlessness that religion brings to the humanity. And this is precisely what the oneness of God ought to be.

Each system works for the follower, and no one idea negates the other. I am a Muslim because I am trained that way and I enjoy being one, but would NEVER claim that my way is the only way for every one of the 6 billion of us, that would be an imposition and arrogance, that which God does not give value to, as it creates an imbalance in his creation. Prophet Muhammad shared God's word in Sura Baqra "There is no compulsion in the matters of faith". Indeed there should not be one.

Is Tolerance accepted in Islam?

In Islamic theology, there is a strong directive for the Muslims to look for Signs in the phenomena of nature. Sadly this strand of thought has not struck deep roots in the Muslim consciousness. Life perhaps would have been different if we did look for Signs and draw necessary lessons from those Signs.

The extreme rigidity of our ideological moorings, leading to conflicts with those who do not share views with us, describes a stalemated situation. We may say that we are followers of the Prophet (PBUH) but the times of the Prophet had witnessed the movement forward of Islam at the highest possible speed. To day in the name of Islam one group of Muslims is hitting hard at the other group because that other is an ideological deviant. Surely, this is no way of propagating an ideology.

The art of miniature painting is different from the art of painting a wall. The reason for this difference lies in the size of the canvas. Evidence of this logic is found in the Creation of Allah itself. Fundamental laws of physics which operate at the existential level in apparently immutable ways, undergo remarkable transformation at the sub-atomic level. Can we take a cue from this, to be able to handle our private issues of the miniatures canvas, independently from the public issues of the large canvas, without of course giving up either of them?

Because of the habit of mind, for a long time physicists could not convince themselves that the laws of mechanics do not hold good in the world of subatomic particles. Then finally with some training of mind, they were able to accept the coexistence of both the sets of laws, both being equally fundamental... After all if nature is the perpetrator, who can have the grudge?

When a question is thrown at me in secular India about the position of Islam, which stands for the abrogation of the Hindu way of life, I cannot coax myself to deny this position, because it is true. At the same time, when I probe my mind about my relationship with a Hindu, I honestly do not find myself antagonistic to him. How do I reconcile these contradictory facts of life? My answer is that it can be explained by the canvas theory which may not remove the contradiction, but which may lay down the ground work for co-existence, being intrinsic part of the design of nature.

It is possible that there would be humans who would not subscribe to accepting this line of argument, but as an intelligent follower of Islam, one is perhaps obliged to accept the centrality of co-existence, taking cue from the Signs hidden in nature. The ability to accept the principles of co-existence lies in the understanding of the fundamental laws of nature. I must take pains to explain that our aim should not be to regress into a situation of tearing apart larger canvas of our ideological life merely in order to accommodate our relationship with other humans, and similarly vice verse, because in reality such tearing apart business is not needed, if we can be convinced to accept both these apparently contradictory realities as equally sacrosanct, with which one can live, with a little training of mind. A person with true understanding of the naturalness of the two sets of laws governing the two levels of human existence would not be unduly affected in his personal relationships, because of his ideological differences.
In the above, all that was required to be said has been stated. But for our simple readers, the essence is explained. The idea is that as Muslims we should have no difficulty in developing an attitude of tolerance towards some persons or some families, who are not entirely like us. The paramount need is to learn to co-exist. Everything else will follow. And the good news is that this approach is fully sanctioned by Islam.

You are under influence of the false allegations spread by the ignorant and prejudiced "mullahs" about whom the Holy Prophet Muhammad [peace and blessings of Allah be on Him] prophesied that they would be the worst creatures under the sky and on the earth!

2. If Jesus Christ, the Prophet is alive and he is to come again after the prophet [peace be on Him] then Jesus, the prophet will be the LAST PROPHET! Having such absurd belief you will be "munkir-e-khatm-e-nabuwwat"! And whoso is "munkir-e-khatm-e-nabuwwat" is "not-Muslim" according to the amended constitution of Pakistan, dated 7Th September, 1974!!

3. Think about if Jesus Christ, the prophet comes again will he be a student of”mullahs" and will he learn the Holy Qur’aan from a "mullah”? Or the Holy Qur’aan will be revealed to Him again after the Holy Prophet [peace be on Him]?

4.It is wonder that when Jesus Christ came himself 2000 years before Jews did not accept his prophethood and when He will come again {according to your belief} then you people will not accept his prophethood !!


5. Moulvi Bilal, may Allah guide you to the right path of real peaceful Islam. The Holy Promised Messiah and Mahdi [peace be on Him] the founder of Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam, is the most humble servant of the Holy Prophet Muhammad [peace be on Him]. OUR FAITH AND OUR BELIEFS

"The five pillars of Islam constitute our Creed. The Revelation of God viz., the Qur’aan which we are commanded to hold firmly on, that indeed we hold firmly on. God be pleased with Umar: Like him we have the words 'sufficient unto us is the Book of God' constantly on our lips. In case of conflict and disagreement between the Hadiths and the Qur’aan we follow Hazrat Ayesha (God be pleased with her) and choose the Qur’aan, especially in the historical texts treated by all schools as above abrogation. And we believe that there is no deity, no one worthy of worship, but only Almighty Allah that our Master Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (peace and blessings of God be upon him), is His Rasul and Khatamal-Anbiya. And we believe that angels exist, that the resurrection of bodies after death is true, and that the Day of Reckoning is also true, that Djanna and Gehenna are also true. We believe that every thing taught about these matters by the Holy Qur’aan and the Holy Prophet is true. We believe that he who seeks to subtract an iota from this or to add an iota to this - the Sharia of Islam and also he who makes light of the statutes and practices of Islam is devoid of belief, a denier of Islam. We counsel our Jamaat to put true and sincere faith in the Holy Kalima, La Illaha Ill-Allah, Muhammad al-Rasul-Allah, to live and die by it, also to believe in all prophets and in all books, the truth of which is sanctioned by the Qur’aan; to observe in letter and in spirit the Fasts, Prayers, Zakat and Pilgrimage and all prescriptions and prohibitions laid down by Almighty Allah and His Prophet. We counsel them in short that their belief should include all beliefs and all rules of conduct agreed upon unanimously by early Muslims, that is, all matters accepted as part of Islam by the consensus of Ahl-i-Sunnah. There is no option. And we hold heaven and earth as witness that this is our creed and this is our faith."

We observe the prescribed prayers and the fast. We turn to the Qibla for prayers and forbid ourselves what is forbidden by God and His Prophet and permit ourselves what is permitted. Whatever has come down to us from the Holy Prophet (on whom peace and God's blessings), all that we accept, whether we understand or not and whether we can unravel its secrets and real meaning or not. 1. Kafir Maulvi Bilal is a name sake Muslim by the fatwa’s of maulvies!!
2. But we Ahmadi Muslims damn care of such decrees and fatwas of maulvies!
3. by the grace of Allah we are Muslims in the eyes of Allah according to the verses of the holy Qur’aan and the sayings of the holy prophet Muhammad [peace be on him]

4.according to the fatwas of 200 "mukaffir" maulvies, Hazrat imam Hussein [may Allah be pleased with him] was declared out of Islam and worth to be killed!!

5. All the saints of Islam in the last 14 centuries have been called "kefirs" and "out of the pale of Islam”!!

6. The quid-e-azam Muhammad Ali Jinnah, allama Iqbal, zulfiqar Ali Bhutto were also called "kafirs" by these mukaffir maulvies!!

7.all the sects of islam, deobandies,brailvies,ahl-e-hadis,ahl-e-quran, ,shias, sunnies have been declared and called "kafirs" and "non-Muslims" by the "mukaffir" maulvies against each others !!

8.so if these already themselves called "kafirs", lavell fatwas of "kufre" against Ahmadi Muslims, they are automatically null and void !!

9. If mukaffir “Maulvi Bilal" follows the same "fatwah-e-takfeer" of the Mecca "rabetah-e-aalmi-islami", that is only a copy of the early Meccans who stood against the holy prophet Muhammad [peace be on him]and they persecuted the holy prophet and the early Muslims and forced them to migrate to Madinah tayyebah !!

10.and those maulvies were also the "Meccans" and "najdies" who stood against the holy saint Hazrat Muhammad bin Abdul wahhab, the mujaddid of the king faisal !! Allah destroyed all "mukaffir" ulemas and now the Saudis are followers of Hazrat imam Muhammad bin Abdul wahhab!! So they should avoid "takfeer decrees" against the ahmadiyya Muslim jama'at international !!

11."rabetah alami-islami" which issued "fatwa-e-takfeer" against ahmadi Muslims is called the stooge organization of the Jews and the Christians according to the majority Muslims of brailvies in Pakistan!!

12.had the fatwah [religious decree] of "rabetah aalmi islami" under the instructions of king faisal of Saudi Arabia and zulfiqar ali bhutto,the then the prime minister of Pakistan, been good in the eyes of Allah, the king faisal would not have been killed by his nephew musaed on the "eid milad-un-nabi day " and Mr. Bhutto would not have been hanged by general zia-ul-haq!! And if general zia-ul-haq had been good in his nefarious actions against ahmadi Muslims, he would not have been killed in the aircraft along with his 15 elite members !! These three tragic incidents are actually the great historic miracles and signs of god as pharaoh was drowned in the sea !! Fa-taberoo ya ool-el-absar !!

13.satan and iblis have been trying their level best against all the prophets since the creation of Adam. And in the time of second Adam, when Allah sent the holy prophet Muhammad’s humblest servant, the holy promised messiah and mahdi and ordained him for "kasr-e-saleeb",the "breaking of the cross" and for the predominance of Islam and for the establishment of the new real world order of Islam, sorry to say, that at the instance of the Jews and Christians, Satan again stood against the ahmadi Muslims,” the jamaat-al-muslemeena wa imamamhum" under the cover of "mukaffir maulvies" and the meccan "rabetah-e-aalami-islami" !! But their satanic mechanicions are bound to fail ultimately according to the prophecy revealed to the holy promised messiah [peace be on him] in the words,” freemasons hargiz tujh par musallat naheen keay jaingay " !! It means that " freemasons "will not overpower on you !! Islam will prevail over all religions through the holy promised messiah [peace be on him]


14.in the last, i may remind "kafir and mukaffir" maulvi bilal and his deobandi group members that there is saying of the holy prophet Muhammad [peace be on him] that whoso calls a Muslim "kafir" he himself becomes a kafir !! Translation of 'Khatam an Nabiyyen' [33:41], is published by the Saudi Govt (King Fahd Holy Quran Printing Complex) and revised and edited by 'The Presidency of Islamic Researches, IFTA, Call and Guidance' the term 'Khatam an Nabiyyen' is translated as 'the Seal of the Prophets' and not the 'last prophet'. It is only in footnotes that 'the Seal' is interpreted as 'no prophet after Prophet Muhammad(sas). Thus "the last of the prophets" translation is not universally recognized as correct.

THE HOLY PROPHET IS KHATAM-UN-NABBIYYEEN

Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Promised Messiah and Mahdi, the Holy Founder of the Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam (peace be upon him) says: "I swear by the glory of God and His Majesty that I am of the faithful, a Muslim and I believe in Allah, the High, in His Books, and in His Messengers and in His Angels and in Life after death. And I believe that Prophet Muhammad the Elect of God (peace of Allah be on him and His blessings) is the most eminent of the prophets and the Seal of Apostles." (Hamamatul Bushra, page 6) He has further stated: I call Allah, the Glorious, to witness that I am not a disbeliever. My doctrine is that there is no one worthy of worship save Allah and that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah . I believe concerning him that he was the Messenger of Allah and the Khataman Nabiyyeen. I affirm the truth of this statement with as many oaths as are the Holy names of Allah and as are the letters of the Holy Quran and as is the number of the excellencies of the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him. No belief of mine is contrary to the commands of Allah and His Messenger. He who imagines anything contrary to this labors under a mis-conception. (Karamatus Sadiqeen, p 25]

THE HOLY PROPHET MUHAMMAD [PEACE BE ON HIM] IS "KHATAM-UN-NABIYYEEN"

we ahmadi Muslims according to the Islamic terminology of prophethood, whole-heartedly believe that holy prophet Muhammad [peace be on him] is "kahatam-un-nabiyyeen", the seal of the prophets, the last of the prophets. No other "prophet" can come after the holy prophet Muhammad [peace be on him]. That is why we ahmadi Muslims believe in the death of Jesus Christ [peace be on him]. so Jesus Christ, the prophet being dead like all other prophets can not come after the holy prophet [peace be on him] !! But sorry to say that maulvi bilal and some Muslims believe in the life of Jesus Christ the prophet in heaven bodily since 2000 years and he will come after the holy prophet[peace be on him]. Having this belief Jesus Christ will be the last prophet !! Whoso believes in the second coming of Jesus Christ, the prophet after the holy prophet Muhammad [peace be on him] he himself is 'munkir-e-khatm-e-nabuwwat. and whoso is munkir-e-khatm-e-nabuwwat, he is anon-Muslim and kafir according to the amended constitution of Pakistan dated 7th september,1974 !!

CLAIM OF THE HOLY PROMISED MESSIAH

according to the initiation form [bai't form]we ahmadi Muslims declare and believe in the words,

"i have firm faith that Hazrat Muhammad rasoolullah [peace and blessings of Allah be upon him]is khataman nabiyyeen, the seal of the prophets. I also believe that Hazrat mirza ghulam ahmad[peace be on him]was the same imam mahdi and promised messiah whose advent was prophesied by Hazrat Muhammad rasoolullah [peace be on him] !!

It may please be noted that coming of the holy promised messiah and imam mahdi is not against "khatam-un-nabiyyeen" as the holy prophet Muhammad [peace be on him] himself prophesied and gave the glade tiding of the coming of the holy promised messiah and the promised mahdi for the revival, renaissance and predominance of Islam in the latter days !!


maulvi bilal and his deobandi group members themselves are "munkir-e-khatm-e-nabuwwat" !

1.Maulana Muhammad Qasim Nanotwi, the founder "Deobandi Movement" written in his book "Tahzeer-un-Nas,
"Awam kay khial maain to Rasool-lu-Allah ka "Khatam" hona ba-ien mana hay keh aap ka zamana Anmbia-e-sabiq kay zamaney kay baad aur aap sab main Aakhri Nabi hain. Magar Ahl-e-Fahm par raoshan hoga keh taqadum ya taakhur e zamaney main bi-zzat kuch fazeelat nahein... Aur bil-farz baad zamah-e-Nabawi bhi koi Nabi PAIDA HO TO PHIR BHI "Khatamiyyat-e-Muhammadi" main kuch farq nan aaega" !! [Tahzeer-un-Nas page 3,28} It means that according to the common Muslims, the meaning of "Katam" of the Holy Prophet is this that His period is the last of the former prophets and He is the last prophet.

but it is well known to the enlightened Muslims that there is no any superiority in being the first and the last....
If, suppose, any prophet is born after the period of the holy prophet [peace be on him]even then there will be no harm in "khatamiyyat-e-muhammadi" !!
Due to this reference of Maulana Muhammad Qasim Nanotwi, the founder of Deobandi movement, Deobandiees in Pakistan are called "Munkir-e-Khatm-e-Nabuwwat" and "Gustakh-e-Rasool" by the Brailvi majority Muslims in Pakistan!! So Maulvi Bilal and his Deobandi group members are themselves are "Munkir-e-Khatm-e-Nabuwwat" and "Gustakh-e-Rasool", blasphemous to the holy prophet [peace be on Him] !!

Whoso is "Munkir-e-Khatm-e-Nabuwwat" is "not Muslim" according to the amended constitution of Pakistan dated 7th September,1977.

As Mulvi Bilal and his Deobandi group members are "Munkir-e-Khatm-e-nabuwwat" so they are "Not-Muslim" according to the amended constitution of Pakistan. And they DIFFER FROM Islam !!

While we ahmadi Muslims, as we whole heartedly believe in "khatam-un-nabiyyeen" so we are real Muslims in the eyes of Allah !! Not in the eyes of "mukaffir" maulvies !!

Maulvi Bilal could not and can never reply my arguments till doomsday !!

Jesus Christ died like all the prophets. this Islamic belief. so he will not return.

According to maulvi belal, the sign of the promised messiah is that Jesus Christ is alive in heaven since 2000 years bodily and he himself will descend from heaven and he will be the promised messiah !!

While Jesus Christ died like all the prophets according to the 30 verses of the holy Quran and sayings of the holy prophet Muhammad[peace be on him] clearly . So he will not come again to become the promised messiah. Another holy man from ummat-e-muhammadiyya was to come in his place as john the Baptist came in the power and spirit of Elijah !!

The Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam

An Overview

The Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam is a religious organization, international in its scope, with branches in over 178 countries in Africa, North America, South America, Asia, Australasia, and Europe. At present, its total membership exceeds 200 million worldwide, and the numbers are increasing day by day. This is the most dynamic denomination of Islam in modern history. The Ahmadiyya Movement was established in 1889 by Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad (1835-1908) in a small and remote village, Qadian, in the Punjab, India. He claimed to be the expected reformer of the latter days, the Awaited One of the world community of religions (The Mahdi and Messiah). The Movement he started is an embodiment of the benevolent message of Islam -- peace, universal brotherhood, and submission to the Will of God -- in its pristine purity. Hadhrat Ahmad proclaimed Islam as the religion of man: "The religion of the people of the right path" (98:6)

With this conviction, the Ahmadiyya Movement, within a century, has reached the corners of the Earth. Wherever the Movement is established, it endeavors to exert a constructive influence of Islam through social projects, educational institutes, health services, Islamic publications and construction of mosques, despite being bitterly persecuted in some countries. Ahmadi Muslims have earned the distinction of being a law-abiding, peaceful, persevering and benevolent community.
The Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam was created under divine guidance with the objective to rejuvenate Islamic moral and spiritual values. It encourages interfaith dialogue, and diligently defends Islam and tries to correct misunderstandings about Islam in the West. It advocates peace, tolerance, love and understanding among followers of different faiths. It firmly believes in and acts upon the Qur'anic teaching: "There is no compulsion in religion." (2:257) It strongly rejects violence and terrorism in any form and for any reason.
The Movement offers a clear presentation of Islamic wisdom, philosophy, morals and spirituality as derived from the Holy Qur'an and the practice (Sunnah) of the Holy Prophet of Islam, Muhammad (peace and blessings of Allah be on him). Some Ahmadis', like late Sir Muhammad Zafrulla Khan (who served as the first Foreign Minister of Pakistan; President of the 17th General Assembly of U.N.O.; President and Judge of the International Court of Justice, at the Hague), and Dr. Abdus Salam (the Nobel Laureate in Physics in 1979), have also been recognized by the world community for their outstanding services and achievements.

After the demise of its founder, the Ahmadiyya Movement has been headed by his elected successors -- Khalifas. The present Head of the Movement, Hadhrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, was elected in 2003. His official title is Khalifatul Massih V.

[4] the holy founder of ahmadiyya movement was of the exalted character according to the elite Muslims and non-Muslims of his age. See the comments of uncountable elite personalities including maulvi Muhammad Hussein batalve, sufi ahmad jan, maulvi siraj-ud-din father of maulvi zafar ali khan, editor "zamindar", hazrat baba ghulam farid of chachran shareef etc.

[5] whoso came in extreme opposition to the holy promised messiah and mahdi [peace be on him] was afflicted with various chastisements from Allah, the almighty.

[6]and the history of ahmadiyyat shows that Allah with his mighty hands helped the holy promised messiah, his family and his followers throughout the world and blessed them with glorious successes. Such kind of favors and blessings can not be bestowed and given to to a false prophet and reformer.

Sign of the Eclipses

Hadhrat Ali bin Umar al-Darqutni (918-995) has recorded a tradition (Hadith) of the Holy Prophet Muhammad, peace and blessing of Allah be on him, in his book Sunan Dar Qutni, as reported by Hadhrat Imam Baqar, regarding the appearance of Imam Mahdi. It states that one of the signs for the appearance of the Mahdi will be that the Moon will be eclipsed on the first night of the three possible nights of an eclipse. And the Sun will be eclipsed on the middle day of the three possible days of an eclipse. Both will occur in the month of Ramadhan. This heavenly sign occurred during the month of Ramadhan in April 1894 when Hudhoor had already declared that he was the Mahdi Mauood (Promised Mahdi). There was an eclipse of the Moon on the first night of the three possible night’s i.e. the 13th Ramadhan, 1311 Hijra (March 21st, 1894) and there was an eclipse of the Sun on the middle day of the three possible days i.e. 28th Ramadhan 1311 Hijra (April 6th, 1894).

Next year in the western hemisphere, the Moon was eclipsed on March 11, 1895 and the Sun was eclipsed on March 26th, 1895.

This great sign is referred to as Sign of the Eclipses. This sign has been pointed out in Chapter al-Qiyama (75:9) of the Holy Quran also. In the Bible (Mark 13:24) it is also stated “ But in those days, after that tribulation, the Sun shall be darkened, and the Moon shall not give her light, and the stars shall be falling from the heaven and the powers that are in heaven shall be shaken”.
This was another glorious sign manifested by Allah the Exalted to prove the truthfulness of His servant the Promised Messiah (AS).

6.Had the holy promised Messiah and Mahdi, the founder of Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam not been from Allah, the Almighty, He would have not succeeded in his sacred mission all over the world in face of extreme opposition from all quarters of opponents.


NO FALSE PROPHET CAN SUCCEED

No pretender and FALSE prophet can succeed in his mission according to the verses of the holy Quran. God helps only to His true messengers. see the verses of the Holy Quran Surah Yunus verse 18 .Surah Ta Ha verse 62,Sura Al-Mujadelah verse 22 , Surah Al-Safat verses 172,173,174 and Anbia verse 45

By the help and grace of Allah Ahmadiyya movement in Islam is progressing day by day and is now spread in more than 178 countries of the world numbering more than 200 millions people in spite of extreme opposition from all from all quarters, Christians, Muslims, Hindoos...etc. This onward progress and success throughout the world over clearly shows the truthfulness of the Holy promised Messiah and Mahdi [peace be on Him].


ARGUMENTS OF THE TRUTHFULNESS OF THE HOLY PROMISED MESSIAH AND MAHDI


The arguments of the truthfulness of the holy Promised Messiah and Mahdi are the same by which we prove the truthfulness of all the reformers and prophets.

There are three basic arguments for the truthfulness of the holy prophet Muhammad [peace be on Him] in the verse of the holy Quran,

“Af man kana ala bayyenatin-mir-Rabbehi wa yatlooho shahedun minho wa min qablehi kitabo moosa imamam wa rahmah. [Surah Hud verse 18].
It means there are three basic arguments to show the truthfulness of the holy prophet Muhammad [peace be on Him].

Three arguments in three times, past, present and future: -

1. In the present age, [when the holy prophet came 1400 years before] He came with clear signs and miracles of God.

2. In the past age, He came according to the prophecies and revelations of the former prophets and sacred scriptures.

3. In the future, His prophecies and revelations will be fulfilled. And in the future A GREAT WITNESS will come and vindicate the truthfulness of the holy prophet [peace be on Him] by heavenly signs, miracles and arguments.

All these three basic arguments are the arguments for the truthfulness of the holy Promised Messiah and Mahdi [peace be on him].

1.He came with three hundred thousands signs and miracles of God according to His marvelous book “Haqiqat-ul-Wahye” page 67-68.

2.He came in accordance with the prophecies of former prophets and the sacred scriptures.

3.He was blessed with and recipient of the prophecies and revelations abundantly about the future. Hundred of those of those Prophecies and revelations have been fulfilled and some revelations are yet to be fulfilled.

In this connection, in view of the above-mentioned basic three arguments, by the grace of Allah I have composed a detailed thesis consisting of 600 pages on computer, on the topic,

“ One Hundred And Eleven [111] distinguishing signs and features of the true Promised Messiah and Mahdi in Comparison to Masih-e-Dajjal” according to the revelations and prophecies of the sacred scriptures, the holy Bible, the holy Quran, the sayings of the holy prophet and sayings of the saints of Islam.

Some arguments of the truthfulness of the Holy Promised Messiah and Mahdi are written hereunder: -

HE Came in accordance of the prophecies

1. He came in accordance of the prophecies and revelations of the early Prophets and sacred scriptures: -

According to the revelations and prophecies, his name is Ahmad, he came at the head of the fourteenth century, in the East, in India, in the east of Damascus, in a village Qadian, his community’s name is “Ahmadi”, his complexion is wheat color, [“gandami”] having straight hair, “different to Jesus Christ, Whose complexion was reddish having curly hair, according to the sayings of the prophet peace be on Him.

He was from the Persian progeny.
He claimed to be the Promised Messiah and Mahdi in 1890-91, at the right time, at the time of triumph of Christianity to break the Cross, at the end of thirteenth and beginning of the fourteenth century of Hijra according to the prophecies of the sacred scriptures..

He was blessed with pious progeny especially with an illustrious promised son “Musleh-e-Maud” having outstanding 58 attributes according to the prophecies of “Talmood”, Bible, the saying of the holy Prophet [peace be on Him] and the prophecies of the holy Promised Messiah [peace be on Him].

He repulsed the onslaughts and objections raised against Islam, the holy Quran and the holy prophet from all quarters of Christians, Areyas, Hindus, Philosophers and proved the truthfulness, superiority and predominance of Islam over all religions by heavenly signs, reasons and arguments and not by sword.

He vindicated the saving of Jesus Christ from the accursed death on the cross and reformed the Christian beliefs of divinity of Jesus Christ, trinity and atonement and explained the realities in this connection. He proved the death of Jesus Christ and he pointed out that his grave is found in Sarinagar, Kashmir, in India. By these latest discoveries he proved the untruthfulness of Christian beliefs and performed the remarkable job of “Kasr-e-Saleeb” prophesied by the holy Prophet of Islam!!

Now the crumbling of Christianity as a religion and softening the world of trinity like the melting snow is a great sign of God.

The holy Promised Messiah had so many similarities with Jesus Christ that is why he was called, ”Ibn-e-Maryam”.

As Jesus Christ came in fourteenth century after Moses without a new code of life, he didn’t come to abrogate the old testament [Torah], he came to fulfill the commandments of Moses. So also the holy Promised Messiah came in fourteenth century after the holy Prophet Muhammad [peace be on Him] and he did not bring a new [shariah] code of life, he did not come to abrogate the holy Quran; he came to fulfill the commandments of the holy Quran and to preach its message throughout the world!! . He vindicated the universal religious brotherhood by highlighting the truthfulness of all the prophets and divines of all religions including, Krishna, Ramah, Buddha and Guru Bawa Nanak [peace be on them] according to the teachings of the holy Quran,

Wa inmin ummatin illa khala fiha nazeer” and “wa lkulle qaumin haad” and “ wa lkulle ummatin rasool” [Surah Fatir verse 25 and Surah Rad verse 8 and Surah Yunus verse 48] It means that in every nation we have sent our reformers, spiritual guides, warners and messengers.

And He came after “Masih-e-Dajjal ” to defend Islamic values.

The holy Promised Messiah written more than 90 remarkable books in which he vindicated the beauties and superiorities of ISLAM, THE HOLY PROPHET AND THE HOLY QURAN over all religions.

By the grace of Allah I have composed 23 articles on computer on various subjects of Ahmadiyyat, the true Islam. One of those articles is the comprehensive research work on the topic of “The beauties and superiorities of Islam and the Holy Quran in comparison to other religions” I have picked up 32 beauties and superiorities of Islam and the holy Quran from the ideas and writings of the holy Promised Messiah [peace be on him].

This comprehensive thesis consisting of 800 pages can be available by contributions.
. The holy Promised Messiah reformed some ideas and beliefs attributed to Islam, the holy Quran and the holy Prophet of Islam. And he vindicated the reality of various

Islamic beliefs regarding God, angles, holy books, the holy Quran, the prophets, The holy Prophet Muhammad [peace be on Him], fourteen supposed superiorities of Jesus Christ over all prophets, Jin, Satan, Dajjal [Anti-Christ], Jihad, Revelation reality and blessings of prayers, life after death, Heaven and Hell etc. Such kind of his work is called,” Tajdeed-e-Din” reformation of the supposed beliefs of Islam.

. The holy Promised Messiah, due to his piety and devotional love to the holy Prophet was granted miraculously the knowledge of holy Quran and “Oloom-o-Maarif” in such a way that nobody could compete with him.

. He claimed to be the Promised Messiah and Mahdi after having the revelations from God and He was recipient of the revelations of God for 40 years, which no false prophet can achieve such a long period.

. The holy Promised Messiah due to the devotional love and following to the holy Prophet Muhammad [peace be on Him] was blessed with communion with God abundantly and was granted revelations and prophecies of God abundantly.

Due to these great favors in abundance, He was given the unique spiritual title of “Prophet and Ummati”. His revelations are compiled in a book called, “Tazkirah” consisting more than 500 pages!!

. He was vehemently opposed from all quarters of Muslims, Christians, and Hindus etc as it had been used to with all the reformers and prophets. Due to the extreme opposition and “Takzeeb” the world experienced numerous annihilating wars, earthquakes, pestilences and terrible catastrophes according to the prophecies.

In accordance to the saying of the holy prophet [peace be on Him], the Ahmadiyya Jma’at was excluded from all other 72 Muslim sects during the anti-Ahmadiyya disturbances of Pakistan in 1953 and 1974. While the Ahmadiyya Muslim Jama’at is the only Jama’at having resemblance to holy Prophet Muhammad and His companions, which shows their truthfulness.

After the advent of the holy Promised Messiah Allah has brought about revolutionary changes and development of science and technology and speedy means of communications to unite the world according to the prophecies of the sacred books including the holy Quran.

. Allah has established the sublime, unique and blessed order of “Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya” after the demise of the holy promised Messiah according to the prophecies of holy Quran and sayings of the holy Prophet [peace be on Him]. The present spiritual head of Ahmadiyya movement in Islam is Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad, who was elected on 22nd April,2003 as khalifat-ul-masih-ul-Khamis [aba],the fifth successor to the holy Promised Messiah [peace be on Him]

By this blessed “Khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya” Ahmadi Muslims are united and well organized all over the world for the sacred cause of spreading Islam and establishing the spiritual revolution throughout the world!!

SIGNS AND MIRACLES OF GOD

2.The holy promised Messiah came with hundred thousands signs and miracles of God, some of these signs were shown in various parts of the world.

. His thirty thousand prayers were accepted regarding his family, friends and foes.

. God showed two great heavenly signs of lunar and solar eclipses according to the revelations and prophecies of the holy Bible, the holy Quran, the saying of the holy prophets and the saints of Islam. These two eclipses were to occur in the time of the Promised Messiah and Mahdi in the month of Ramadan. It being quite an unusual natural phenomenon strangely enough, both the Moon and the Sun were eclipsed on the specified dates in the month of Ramadan in 1894 in India and 1895 in the western world!! When the founder of ahmadiyya movement had already claimed that He was the Promised Messiah and Mahdi. And He himself strongly explained these two heavenly signs in support of his truthfulness.

. Thousands people after having visions and dreams testified the truthfulness of the holy Promised Messiah peace be on Him.

. According to the revelations, the death of Piggott of England and the death of Alexander Dowie of Zion, Illinois, U.S.A on March 8,1904 and the death of Joseph Smith, he founder of the Mormon Church, America were great signs of God for the West and the death of Pandit Lekhram was a great sign of God for the people of India.

His Revelations and Prophecies fulfilled

There was a time when the holy founder of Ahmadiyya movement in Islam was un- known person in his town in Qadian. . Nobody knew him. In those very days Allah revealed to him in the words:-

“I SHALL CAUSE THY MESSAGE TO REACH THE CORNERTS OF THE EARTH”.

According to this great prophecy now the message of Ahmadiyyat, the true Islam is reaching the corners of the Earth.

Now the Ahmadiyya movement in Islam has spread in more than 174 countries in Africa, North America, South America, Asia, Australia and Europe. At present its total membership exceeds 170 millions. And the numbers are increasing day by day. Ahmadiyya movement within a century reached the corners of the Earth.

Through M.T.A [Ahmadiyya Muslim Television] the voice of Ahmadiyyat, the true Islam is reaching all over the world .The holy Quran has been translated and published in 52 languages of the world, in near future the number of the translations of the holy Quran will be 100 by the grace of Allah. All these faith enhancing sacred works for the onward progress of Islam are being done due to the favors of Allah and due to the blessings of khilafat-e-Ahmadiyya. Under the Divine guidance of the present international spiritual head, Hazrat Mirza Masroor Ahmad,Khalifat-ul-Masih-ul- Khamis [aba], the Ahmadiyya Community is progressing extraordinarily all over the world.

“Whoso ever helps him in his sacred cause, Allah will help him and whoso disgraces him, Allah will disgrace him.”

This prophecy has been fulfilled hundred thousands times. Sir Muhammad Zafrullah Khan helped the holy Promised Messiah.

He Was Promoted to the foreign Minister of Pakistan for a long time, he Presented the case of Palestine and Kashmir effectively in U.N.O. and became the President of General Assembly of U.N.O and the President Judge of International court of Justice, Hague!!

And whoso wanted to disgrace Him, Allah disgraced him.

A great prophecy regarding the former prime minister of Pakistan Mr. Bhutto and the former army ruler Zia-ul-Haq has been fulfilled miraculously according to the book, ”Zia-ul-Haq” written and published by the holy promised in 1895. !! The whole world was astonished to know the hanging of Mr. Bhutto in 1979 and blowing up the aircraft of General Zia-ul-Haq in 1988!!

AHMADIYYA MOVEMENT IN ISLAM, ITS FOUNDING AND ONWARD PROGRESS


Ahmadiyya movement in Islam was founded under the Divine guidance by Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the holy Promised Messiah ,Promised Mahdi and the Reformer of the latter days on 23rd March,1889 at Ludhiana, in India with the objective to rejuvenate Islamic moral and spiritual values. It advocates peace, tolerance, love and understanding among the followers of different faiths. It firmly believes and acts upon the Quranic teaching: “La ikraha fi-ddin” [2: 57]. It means THERE IS NO COMPULSION IN RELIGION. It strongly rejects violence and terrorism in any form and for any reason. Islam is the religion of peace.

Ahmadiyya movement in Islam is not a mundane movement or a political party. It is a purely religious worldwide organization. It is founded under divine guidance according to the prophecies and revelations of sacred scriptures, the holy Bible, the holy Quran and sayings of the holy prophet Muhammad peace and blessings of Allah be upon him.

The holy prophet Muhammad [peace be on him] gave glad tidings in his sayings that “Masih-e-Maud” and the Promised Mahdi will come in the latter days when Islam and Muslims will remain by name only and the holy Quran will be left in words only. Enemies of Islam particularly Dajjal [Anti-Christ] and Gog and Magog will supersede the whole world in such a way that no other power can face them and the people will about to think that Islam is a spent force, short lived and will perish away!! In such odd circumstances the holy prophet clearly prophesied, ”Kaifa tahleko ummati ana fi awwaleha wal-masiho fi aakhreha”! It means how my ummat can perish when I am at its beginning and the Messiah is at its end!

A GREAT PROPHECY OF THE HOLY QURA’AN


In the verse of the holy Qura’an,” huwallzi baasa
fil-ummeyyeena rasoolan minhum …….wa aakhreena minhumlamma yalhaqu behim” [Surah Jumu ah verse 3-4], Allah prophesied that holy prophet Muhammad [peace be on Him] was sent not only for the Arabs among whom He was raised but for all non-Arabs as well, and not only for his contemporaries but also for the generations to come till the end of time.

THIS VERSE ALSO SIGNIFIES THAT THE HOLY PROPHET WILL BE RAISED AMONG OTHER PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOT YET MET AND JOINED HIS IMMEDIATE FOLLOWERS.
The reference in the verse is to the second advent of the holy prophet himself in the person of the Promised Messiah in the latter days.

In the commentary of this verse, there is a saying of the holy prophet in the authentic book of Bukhari. And that is: -

Abu Hurairah says, “One day we were sitting with the holy prophet when Surah Jumuah was revealed. I enquired from the holy prophet for three times, who are these people to whom the words, “And among others of them who have not yet joined them, refer”?

Salman Farsi, the Persian, was sitting among us. Upon my repeatedly asking him the same question, the holy prophet put his hand on Salman and said,” If faith were to go up to the Pleiades, A MAN from these would surely, find it “!!

[Bukhari kitab-u-tafseer, commentary of surah Jumuah verse “wa aakhreena minhum lamma yalhaqoo behim”] This saying of the holy prophet shows that the verse applies to a man of Persian descent. Thus the Quran in the present verse refers to the Second Advent of the holy prophet in the person of the Promised Messiah.

This verse also shows the sublime and unique status of the holy promised Messiah in “Ummat-e-Muhammadiyya”. He is the only one who is complete image [aks-e-Kamil] of the holy prophet peace be on him. That is why the coming of the holy promised Messiah is mentioned in this verse, the coming of the holy prophet Muhammad peace be upon Him.

And due to being the complete image [Aqs-e-kamil] of the holy prophet, only the holy promised Messiah in “ummat-e-muhammadiyya” was given the sublime and unique spiritual title of “Nabi and Ummati” by the holy Prophet!!

The above mentioned verse of the holy Quran,” Howallzi baasa fil ummeyyeena rasoolan minhuh…. Wa aakhareena minhum” clearly shows that holy prophet Muhammad [peace be on Him] was sent

For two kinds of people: -

[1] For “Ummeyyeen” for those people who were illiterate

[2] And for other people who were different from “Ummeyyeen” [they were to be literate and educated] and they yet did not meet and joined the earliest companions of the holy prophet [peace be on Him]. So by these words of the holy Quran, it is clysters clear that there are two advents and two periods, [two “zahoors” and two “Nashateen”] periods of renaissances for the holy prophet and Islam.

In the first advent and the first period was called the period of “takmeel-e-Din” when the “Shariah” of the holy Quran was completed and the aspect of “Jalal”, the glory and grandeur of the holy prophet and Islam was shown to the world like the shining and glowing of the Sun!!
And in the Second Advent and in the second period, the aspect of “Kamal” of the holy Prophet, and the beauties and superiorities of the holy prophet, the holy Quran and Islam, were destined to be shown like the sweet, pleasant and consoling light of the Moon!

And in this Second Advent and in this second period of the holy prophet, which is the indirect period of the holy promised Messiah, the victory and predominance of Islam throughout the world was prophesied in the holy Quran. [Surah Fatah verse 29 and Surah Assaf verse 10].

This golden and blessed period is called the period of the complete propagation of Islam throughout the world and the period of world-unification,[“Takmeel-e-Ishaat-e-Din” and “Wahdat-e-aqwam-e-alam”] when all the people of all countries became united due to various speedy means of communications. This was a Divine plan so that the peaceful message of the holy Quran and Islam, should reach easily to the corners of Earth!! And the whole world should be united like a global village in one Religion and in one world order of humanity!!

In this blessed period it was destined and prophesied that the beauties of the holy prophet and the teachings of the holy Quran and superiorities of Islam were to be widely published and spread throughout the world in such a way that Islam will to be victorious and dominant over all religions by heavenly signs, arguments and reasons and not by sword!!

The Prophecies of the sacred scriptures including the holy Quran Are fulfilled in this age. The long awaited, the holy Promised Messiah has came at the right time and at the right place and His movement is spreading by leaps and bounds all over the world in spite of extreme opposition and persecutions from all quarters of Muslims, Christians, Hindus and others.

Now in this 15th Hijrah century, we hope that all the good-natured people from all over the world will rally around the banner of Islam, and will be gathered under the blessed footsteps of the holy prophet Muhammad peace be upon Him. There will be one God, One religion and one humanity!! The new world order of Islam, and “Love for all, hatred for none “ will be established. GOD WILLING !

May Allah help us to fulfill our responsibilities in this sacred cause and may Allah open the eyes of Muslim brothers and others to accept the Holy Promised Messiah and Mahdi and reformer of the latter days. Amin.

Thanks to the University Campuses in the United States and Canada in general, and the Canadian Media in particular for taking the lead in giving space for opposing opinions. The resolution by Canada protecting religion from "defamation" is welcome news. The American Media has a lot more to learn, moving from propaganda to news coverage, and being honest in giving equal caliber an equal time. Sadly, American media is more of a business than a true media.

The concerns of Tarek Fatah and Farzana Hassan about blasphemy accusations are real, however, they will not materialize in the United States and Canada, it speaks well of our laws that protect our freedom.

Thank God, they are the same laws that prevent Pat Robertson, Tom Crendo and their ilk from becoming terrorists; either scheming to bomb or assassinate leaders of other nations.

Democratic form of Governance is preferred by Muslims indeed that is how the Muslim history took roots; the first four political leaders called Caliphs were elected through consensus after campaigning and challenging. The Prophet did not pass the political mantle to his legitimate heirs to prevent a monarchial or a hereditary form of governance. There was a clear separation of church and the state, as the faith was complete and no clergy was assigned to carry on the religious business, it was up to the individual to follow the only thing prophet left; The Qur’aan. Today, over 2/3rds of Muslims live in democracies, and the rest would opt for democracy, if they have their freedom.

Though the Propaganda would have you believe that Muslims want the Caliphate, but ask the Muslims or do an in-depth survey, you will be surprised that only a very small percentage of Muslims may want to live in strict religious system, perhaps the same percentage as the Neocons wanting a Christian form of Governance. However, if you probe further and give the option between a Just and a religious government, they will go for the Just governance, as that is what Islamic government means to the Muslims. I hope the University of Pittsburgh takes on this task.

The Muslims in the United States and Canada are like any other community living and breathing the freedom sustained in these two great nations. In the 1400 years of Muslim history, Muslims have never seriously and publicly challenged the Sharia Laws, the Hadiths (verbal traditions ascribed to the Prophet) any where in the world as they have done here in the North American continent. In the last five years that I have been managing a few forums, I have observed remarkable rational attitudes among Muslims who are not only from our continent but from all over the world. The dogma is constantly challenged and new consensus is silently emerging.

In a few years Muslim will take on the responsibility of peace makers. They will constantly seek to mitigate conflicts and nurture goodwill for peaceful co-existence. God wants us to live in peace and harmony with his creation; life and mater. Indeed, that is the purpose of religion, any religion.

Farzana Hassan [president, Muslim Canadian Congress] and Tarek Fatah [founder, Muslim Canadian Congress]: "How long will it take the leadership of North America's traditional Muslim leadership to embrace the First amendment of the United Sates constitution and the doctrine of the separation of religion and state? Will the concept of freedom of expression survive ever-new challenges from the defenders of medieval traditions that bar any discussion or critique of religion?

These are questions bubbling below the surface right now, but eventually are bound to erupt into the open. Moreover, when they do, chances of a rise in overt racist backlash against Muslims of all shades and opinions is a likely outcome. Certainly, the events of the past few months provide ample evidence for this trend, with two human rights complaints making newspaper headlines and leading to fierce debates about the limits of free speech and what might constitute hate literature.

The first involved a human rights complaint against Ezra Levant, the editor of the defunct [Canadian magazine the] Western Standard, while the second, more recent one, was filed against Macleans magazine, by four Osgoode law students on behalf of the Canadian Islamic Congress. Needless to say, these complaints are justifiably interpreted as assaults on freedom of speech and conscience by Canadians both Muslim and non-Muslim, leading many to question the mandate of these commissions as well as the validity or otherwise of these human rights complaints.

Historically, orthodoxy has demanded abject compliance to the closed belief systems it guards. Therefore, the freedom to question, challenge, and evaluate dogma remains an elusive ideal for those who practice it, often at great risk to their lives and persons. Though in the West, "heresy" came to be accepted as valid religious expression in the seventeen hundreds in keeping with the first amendment; Muslim societies continue to be dogged by obscurantism and a stubborn resistance to modernity. Many a time, such intransigence results in lawsuits, human rights complaints and conspiracy theories against individuals perceived as threats to the status quo.

As an example, the United Nations Human Rights Commission (UNHRC) recently approved a resolution protecting religion from "defamation". Once again, the drivers of this move were Islamist organizations who refuse to tolerate the slightest dissent over religious matters. What these tyrants and monarchs from the Arab world fail to realize or choose to pretend otherwise is the fact that critics of Islamist ideologies are not opposing Islam as a religion, but the use of Islam as a political ideology that hides behind religion for protection, while seeking political ascendancy.

For Muslims who believe in challenging religious dogma, who actively pursue the goal of bringing about reform in Muslim societies and who advocate the separation of religion and state, this becomes a particularly threatening scenario as charges of blasphemy and apostasy often occasion calls for the execution of "apostates" and "heretics". A Turkish man recently convicted of "ridiculing god" faces the death penalty in a Saudi prison while secular and moderate Muslims living in the West are frequently the targets of death threats or bullying tactics to silence them one way or another.

The law in Canada and the United States must look into formulating legal measures that protect reformists within various faith traditions. In particular, given the serious consequences that secular and reformist Muslims face in their efforts to challenge orthodox positions, charges of apostasy and blasphemy leveled against them by fundamentalists should be criminalized as legal safeguards against such bullying and silencing tactics. The United States and Canada must look into introducing legislation that will protect such individuals from these accusations often laden with threats to their lives and security.

As long as Islamists around the world use Islam as a political ideology in the footsteps of such jihadi ideologues as Hassan Al-Banna, Syed Qutb, Abul Ala Maudoodi and Ayatollah Khomeini, their Muslim, and non-Muslim opponents will have the right to challenge this ideology with full vigour. Hiding behind the skirts of religion to avoid being critiqued, these fascist cults demonstrate not just cowardice, but a cunningness that is fooling large segments of the liberal-left intelligentsia in the West, which will be among the first to suffer if and when Islamists use liberal democracy to extinguish its light."

The real issue is not about who is a Muslim, but it is about how the majorities treat their minorities.

Should the bad decisions of a few in the name of Islam, reflect on the Muslim community at large? Now, Indonesia is planning to ban the "heretical" Muslim sect, should that reflect on Islam? The least we can do is to speak up against the tyranny of one group of people against the other.

The easy option is to do nothing and let the world believe that it is Islam, and if we did that, we would lose our right to complain that it is not us, well it is us. The actions are not the work of a Looney brigade or some fringe groups; it is the government of Indonesia succumbing to please the few among them.

In the movie "A Bug's life", it just took one gutsy Flik to fend off the terrorizing grasshoppers, it takes two boys or two girls to stand up to the class room bully to end the tyranny. It would take a few passionate Muslims to speak out and persuade the establishment. I suggest every one to watch this movie to understand how our Neocons (extremist Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus and others - Jews claim Zionists are not extremists, and I take their word for it) work and how us, the silent majority should act.

The real question that we need to address is should we let a majority determine what one believes, wears or eats? Can the Majority in the United States do that? Can the majority in Indonesia do that? Should that work in India? Can the Sunni Majority in Saudi Arabia harass the Shia? Can the Shia Majority in Iran harass the Sunnis? We have to catch up with our own integrity. Those who were a majority elsewhere are a minority somewhere else.

God is about justice and he wants us to live in peace and harmony, after all, each one of us is his creation, and he will not discriminate any one of us. Qur’aan - 49:13 “O men! Behold, we have created you all out of a male and a female, and have made you into nations and tribes, so that you might come to know one another. Verily, the noblest of you in the sight of God is the one who is most deeply conscious of Him. Behold, God is all-knowing, all-aware.”

A majority of Muslims understand that Islam is a religion of peace, a religion of freedom and justice, and a religion that does not force people to behave. Indeed, if we start looking at ourselves, Alhamdu Lillah, Praise the Lord, the majority of us get along with all and live a life of peace and co-existence.

Every now and then, a "few" among us cross that line, when we let Governments, in the name of Islam start judging people's faith; we are making a gross error defying the very God we purport to follow. Don’t practicing Muslims recite this at least 50 times a day? Qur’aan, Sura “1:4 Lord of the Day of Judgment!” And “1:5 you alone do we worship; and unto Thee alone do we turn for aid.”

Is it up to God or the Government of Indonesia? When we object the Neocons to pre-empt God and bring the Armageddon as soon as possible and justify their ruthlessness in the name of God, then we must object any one taking over God’s decisions in the name of Islam.

When Hazrat Bakr was agreed upon to be the Caliph, the consensus was with him and the few who disagreed dropped their opposition and followed the leader in the same manner as Republicans and democrats who fight within until a candidate is nominated, then every one rallies around the selected one.

The problem with us or any majority of people is we do not give our consensus; we do not exercise our rights and by default give others, the right to govern us.

Not the Pakistani people, but the dictator in-charge, to appease a few, enacted the laws declaring Ahmadiyya group of people as non-Muslims, but then the Pakistani people start believing and legitimizing it. Americans are no different, if the President thinks Russia is evil, we jump with him and when he turns around and befriends China, and in a heartbeat we change our minds too. If he declares Islam is the danger… thank God, Americans are getting away from blindly following government and exercising independent judgment.

It is time for Muslims to stand up and speak out.

Remember the Good Samaritan American women during 9/11? They wore Hijab to show solidarity with Muslim women, the time is coming, when a whole mass of population will declare themselves Muslim to show solidarity with the Ahmadiyya, what are you going to do?

What prevents one from incorporating their group with the name Muslim or Islam? There are a lot of websites with the words Muslim and Islam, but they are actually anti-Islam. What are you going to do about it?

It is time for Muslims to wake up and act righteous and speak out.

I am a Muslim, a Sunni if it makes a difference in building goodwill.

I do not believe in getting pushed into a box. I realize that it will take a while for all of us to get to that point. On the other hand there is nothing wrong in accepting the diversity among us, it is not the difference, it is our attitude towards the difference that needs to be evaluated.

First of all, please note that our forum or any other forum must values every opinion, I believe God has created us all equal, what we make out of it is our effort and God knows everything we do.

This is the reason you will find legitimate criticism of issues (not individuals) is published on this forum. As a publisher and moderator of this group, I can simply delete the criticism leveled against me every now and then, but I don’t. You should not be surprised that Brother Iftekhar Alvis’s criticism is published here, as Muslims we have to engage in dialogue, listen to different point of views and not be judgmental, we have to respectfully disagree, but not deny each others’ point of view. We cannot expect the good things to happen, if we do not pave the way for a dialogue and debate.

Several Imams, scholars and heads of organizations have expressed the need for the Muslim community to put our difference aside and come together for the common good of Muslims and the world. What is good for us has got to be good for others for it to sustain.

Ahmadiyya no doubt differ from the Sunni thought, but Sunnis also differ from Shia in the interpretation of Ahl-e-bait. But we have lived all along for over 14 centuries. Some of us have issues with the newer group in the family of Muslims and are eager to deny them a sense of belonging based on hearsay, fact or fiction. Politically they are not comfortable either as some of us are not. But most of us would like to embrace every one who calls himself/herself a Muslim, just as we boast that Prophet Essa, Musa, Ibrahim and others were Muslims because they believe in a God and the accountability day.

Islam is about Justice and when we deny some one the same rights as we have, then we cannot call it Justice. Our moral standing and Eemaan (faith) will be strong when we truly believe that Justice is not for our own kind, but for every human being, Muslim or not.

We have to take a position and embrace every Muslim and not do the hair splitting. If you give the Danda (stick) to orthodox Wahhabi, Shia, Sunni, Ismaili, Bohra, Ahmadiyya, Kurd or other group to lash out, they would declare every one to be a non-Muslim other than themselves and perhaps give each one of us at least one lash. Isn’t this the reason we have Islam where a rich or poor, Alim (scholar) or Jahil (ignorant) can stand in the same line in presence of God Almighty as equals? After all, if we die, each one of us will be buried on equal terms. Only Allah knows and he reserves the right to judge one’s Emaan, and one’s Niyyah and not any one else. This is our God given freedom.

If we need to have the moral strength, we have to consider dropping the barriers for greater good. We have to work for it, we have to do the Jihaad within, we have to fight the "desire" to compel others to be like us, isn’t this Jihad a legitimate Jihaad?

I am not an Ahmadiyya, but as a Muslim, I will stand up for their right to practice their version of the faith as it works for them. We do not have to subscribe to their version, nor do we have to become obsessed in judging their Eeman (faith). You and I do not own ISLAM, Islam is not anyone' property to claim exclusive rights to it. Just as you subscribe to it, others do too, let every one subscribe in their own way. If God wanted us to be a homogenous beings, he would have made us Farishtas (angels), he wanted us to be unique.

May God bless you and cause you to become a part of the mainstream Islam, where every one is honored with their differences and accept every one as a Muslim, as long as they believe in God and his prophet and the day of judgment.

I am speaking from a Majoritarianism V. Minoriatarianism perspective. The civility of a group is determined by how it treats its weak, its children, its women, it older folks.

A few of us claim that Islam has been around from Ibrahim's time and our explanation is that Islam means submission to the will of God, hence Musa was Muslim, and Essa was a Muslim. Yet, we do not want the same definition to be used by others.

Shahadah is the door that opens every one to be called a Muslim. In fact, that is the first thing required of any one to be a Muslim. As Muslims we have to strive for Justice - and Justice is negation of oppression.

Learning about others is critical and I have been to the Ahmadiyya Mosque, and at least the Qur'aan I picked from the Mehraab (book shelf), walking around the Masjid was the same, as I glance through many of the Sarah's. www.Alislam.org is their website.

Sunnis declaring Shia as non Muslim and vice-versa (Mecca's Mufti) is an endless loop. We have to leave the judgment to Allah and accept the diversity within Islam. Our fight should be focused on dismantling the false propaganda against Muslims – The Ahmadiyya are doing a good job in sharing about Islam, and I have been in their company a few times in the interfaith meetings. I did not hear anything contrary, at least in the public.

Alhamdu Lillah, Indonesian government is not going to pass the laws. However, this issue will not go away. The politics in us has to manufacture an enemy, and for a few among us, Ahmadiyya are the easy prey. We don't need to eat from the same plate, but let's do our jihad against this hostility.

A few of my friends suggest me not to take up these issues, I disagree, God has DNA'd each one of us to do a few things in life. Some of us are volunteers and serve others and some don't. Some day more and more Muslims will see the wisdom of Sura Hujurat, verse 49.

My role model is Prophet Muhammad, and I would like to emulate as much as I can, as most of the Muslims do. One of his roles was to speak up and stand up for justice, it did not matter to him if Khadija and Ali were the only two followers, then later on with 313 followers he stood up against the ooo's. He stood his ground despite the persecution. There is a lot we can learn from this.

In the previous posting a clarification was made that we have the right to judge one's deviant social behavior as to theft, fornication, cheating etc, where as one's faith, an inner matter will be judged by God on the Day of Judgment, only God knows and is aware of our intentions.

To me Prophet Muhammad was the last prophet. Ahmadiyya interpretation works for them, as they believe in it. Neither Shia, Sunni, Ahmadi, Wahhabi have to accept each other’s point of view, we do differ on different issues. Each set has its own peculiarities that the others do not share, that is given, and we have to live with it, as we cannot compel any one to believe what he or she does not.

The choices are: i) compel them to change their belief ii) deny them their right to believe in Islam in their own way iii) and deny them the right to call themselves Muslims. This assumes that we don't need to consult and that when consulted and if the majority agrees to impose all the three choices, we have to go by the majority. None of this can be good for all times.

What if the whole nation of Indonesia becomes Ahmadiyya or powerful, can they reverse the above choices made by Sunni Muslims? Would that be legitimate? The Criminal Ferdinand has done that in 1492, Criminal Hitler has done that around 1940, in both instances the world stood by doing nothing.

Most Muslims believe that Islam is for all times, it is big enough to accommodate and live with the whole diverse universe without conflicts and without compelling others to be subservient, and letting every one who he or she is remain who they want to be. God's model of diversity is impeccable with the matter, the Sun, the planets, and the whole universe obeys God, meaning they do what they were created for. He wants us to know each other and the best among us is the one who is best in conduct, Allah is aware.

Indonesia plans to ban "heretical" Muslim sect
JAKARTA (Reuters) - Indonesia is drafting a decree that will ban a Muslim sect that has been branded heretical by most Muslims, an official said on Friday.
The Ahmadiyya sect views itself as Muslim but it has been branded a heretical group by the Indonesian Ulemas Council, the secular country's highest Muslim authority, which has issued a fatwa, or edict, against it.
A team with officials from two government ministries and the attorney general's office has recommended the government ban the sect because its teachings deviate from the central tenets of Islam, said the team's deputy head Wisnu Subroto.
He said the religious affairs ministry, the home affairs ministry and the attorney general's office were drafting a joint decree that would require Ahmadiyya followers to return to mainstream Islam.

"The content is a strong warning to Ahmadiyya followers to not deviate from the core teachings," Subroto told Reuters.

He added that the draft was expected to be completed later this month.
Mainstream Muslims reject Ahmadiyya's claim of the prophethood of its founder, Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, who died in 1908 in India. Most Muslims believe that Mohammad is the last of the Prophets.

Some of the sect's other teachings are also considered deviant by both Sunni and Shia, the two major branches of Islam, and some Muslim countries do not accept the Ahmadiyya’s as Muslim.
In the past, Islamic radicals have damaged mosques and other facilities belonging to Ahmadiyya’s in Indonesia.

The Indonesian Muslim Forum (FUI), a group of some 50 Muslim organisations, on Friday urged President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to disband Ahmadiyya and seize all its assets.
Indonesia is the world's most populous Muslim nation, but groups branded as deviant or heretical periodically spring up.

Around 85 percent of Indonesia's 226 million people are Muslims. Most of them are moderates who tolerate other beliefs.

Religious freedom is put at risk by political expediency

SEVERAL thousand hardline Muslims protested outside President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono's palace in Jakarta on April 20th demanding that he ban Ahmadiyah, an unorthodox but moderate Muslim sect founded in 19th-century India that claims around 200,000 members across Indonesia. At an earlier meeting of one of the groups involved, a leader was filmed chanting “Kill Ahmadiyah! Kill! Kill! Kill!” Far from having these extremists arrested for inciting violence, Mr Yudhoyono was this week considering pandering to them by issuing a decree to restrict Ahmadiyah's freedom of worship. One group of advisers has urged him to do so, while others were counselling against a move that would violate constitutional guarantees of religious freedom.

“X” marks the spotThe proposed ban has its roots in Mr Yudhoyono's tender treatment of the Indonesian Ulemas Council (MUI), a semi-official group of Muslim clerics that was created during the authoritarian regime of Suharto (1966-98). The president nodded his approval as the MUI issued fatwas against “deviant” sects. On April 23rd Abdul Salam, a self-proclaimed prophet who leads another unorthodox group, al-Qiyadah al-Islamiah, was jailed for four years for blasphemy. MUI's fatwas have also given vigilante groups an excuse to attack sects' members and their homes and mosques. In Ahmadiyah's case the fatwas have also prompted another Suharto-era creature, the Co-ordinating Board for Monitoring Mystical Beliefs in Society, to launch an inquisition.

In January the board said it had decided not to call for a ban because Ahmadiyah's leaders in Indonesia had issued a statement affirming that Muhammad was the last prophet, rather than Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, the Indian mystic who founded the group. But this month the board declared that since Ahmadiyah had gone back on this pledge to “correct” its beliefs, a ban was now in order. Government officials then said that a decree against Ahmadiyah, though not necessarily an outright ban, was being prepared. Last weekend, police forced Ahmadiyah to cut short its annual congress in Bali.

As elsewhere, there are differences among Indonesia's Ahmadis over the meaning of their founder's claims to prophethood. However, under Article 29 of Indonesia's constitution—“The state guarantees all persons the freedom of worship, each according to his own religion or belief”—their beliefs are their own affair.

Unfortunately, it is not that simple. The constitution's guarantee of religious freedom is immediately preceded by an apparently contradictory affirmation that “the state shall be based upon the belief in the one and only God.” Indonesian law requires citizens to belong to one of six officially approved religions even though three are not monotheistic: Buddhists and Confucianists have no god; Hindus have lots of them. Now that Indonesia is a democracy, the constitutional guarantee of freedom of worship might be thought to trump all other arguments. But the mess has yet to be cleared up by the courts.

Yet Mr Yudhoyono's government can do the right thing when pushed. After the Bali bombings in 2002 it rounded up most leaders of Jemaah Islamiah (JI), the jihadist group responsible. Three of the bombers were sentenced to death and face execution shortly. Two more JI leaders, arrested last year, were sentenced to jail terms this week. However, while it is contemplating banning peaceable Ahmadiyah, the government has been reluctant to prohibit JI despite its atrocious violence. It may do so now that the courts, in this week's sentences, have at last labelled JI a terrorist group. There have also been no moves to ban the local chapter of Hizb-ut-Tahrir, a radical group that, although it does not preach violence, does call for the downfall of the Indonesian state and its replacement with a caliphate.

Mr Yudhoyono may believe that he is avoiding conflict by appeasing the country's vociferous but unrepresentative radical Islamist fringe. His liberal critics retort that the state has a duty to protect minorities, rather than sacrifice them to some supposed public good. In any case, suppressing Ahmadiyah and al-Qiyadah al-Islamiah would be more likely to damage Indonesia's stability and unity than letting their members worship freely. The country's many Hindus, Christians and members of other faiths would surely be asking themselves: “Are we next?”

Some Ahmadiyah members have called for help from the United Nations' Human Rights Commission. The outside world—which has so far seen Mr Yudhoyono as a democrat, a reformist and a leader of moderate Islam—might indeed make it clear to him that giving in to the bullies and repressing a peaceable religion would have unfortunate consequences.

I feel that I have to truly speak out against the crime against Jammat Ahmadiyya that was brought to my attention. I posted the wonderful commentary by Mike Ghouse entitled “Ahmadiyya Muslims What Next” and he was absolutely right.

With all due respect, my Indonesian Muslim brothers and sisters must be loosing their minds. In truth the entire Muslim world is loosing their mind, especially as it relates to this MUSLIM community. Yes, I said Muslim community. How in the world can you call yourself a Muslim and want to ban another group that says they are Muslim too? So what if you don’t agree with their practice or even their theology. The one thing that should bind us all is our belief in One God, Allah (swt) and our belief in the Prophet (saw). Any person or group that upholds that is a Muslim.

This is where hypocrisy comes in. Muslims are so quick to fight against one another over matters of variance in practice, but are so slow to embrace one another based on our commonality. We will readily engage in interfaith with other religions, accept others with open arms, let them speak in our Masjids, etc. But God forbid we do that with other Muslims who think or practice other than ourselves.

We love to bash the West and complain about how we are minorities and are denied equal rights, yet in our so-called Muslim countries we refuse to do that ourselves? Why complain about something you won’t readily do yourselves?

This is why I understand why non-Muslims look at us with such strange looks. Look at us, we are backward and confused when we can’t realize the obvious. Muslims by definition are supposed to be the example of what the world should be. I must say, if we define Muslim by the actions of those in Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and every other “Muslim” nation that bans this group or any other group, then I would rather be an apostate.

You can’t even be a Muslim acting the way they are acting. A Muslim is supposed to be one in which his/her neighbors feel safe. How in the hell can these “Muslims” call themselves such when not even fellow Muslims can feel safe in their presence?

How in the world can you say you are Islamically justified in banning a group that says there is no God, but Allah? What kind of Muslim are you?

I am not Ahmadiyya, however, you can judge a tree by the fruit it bears. This Jammat in all my experiences have been one of the most tolerant, welcoming, and peaceful community I have had the privilege to get to know. I have Ahmadiyya friends, I have attended their functions, and I can tell you through my Sunni eyes, that if they are not Muslim, then I truly don’t know what Islam is and I should go back to being a Christian!

I know many of these brothers and sisters, I can tell you with resolute honesty that to me, they are as if we had the same parents. I love these brothers and sisters, surely we disagree on matters of Fiqh, but so do my wife and I! Some of us in our arrogance and lack of faith in Allah (swt) would rather swat at gnats. We bring the chastisement of Allah (swt) on ourselves.

So what they say the Messiah has come back? What does that have to do with Shahaddah, Salah, Zawm, Zakat, and Hajj? Do they teach against those things? Do they even pray differently? Many of us are so foolish that we would readily have the good Rev. Dr. such and such address us in the Masjid or non-Muslim Mayoral candidate whomever, but don’t let it be someone who calls themselves a Muslim that practices or believes a little different from us. Don’t even let them in our households, bar them from burying their dead, and of all things bar them from the Holy House of all Muslims!

I condemn these detestable, hypocritical, and un-Islamic acts done against this community. I pray Allah (swt) is swift in His chastisement against any Muslim or so-called Muslim state that wants to or has banned any Muslim or group that prays to Him.

How dare you brothers and sisters that do this. In this time where Muslims should be gathering and supporting one another, you want to continue the divide. Instead of being the defender and protector of the oppressed, you now want to be the oppressor. Allah (swt) loves NOT the oppressor.

I sincerely tell you that you seal your fate and you will be brought to ruin as most “Muslim” nations like Pakistan, until you submit and unite.

I ask all Muslims who truly believe, to oppose these actions as well as those well recorded elsewhere. All Muslim lands should belong to any who believe in Allah (swt), His messenger (saw), and the last day. Any who oppose that, should be done away with. They should not be supported in any manner as they have left the fold of Islam and have become a persecutor of fellow Muslims which is Haram.

I ask that we rally around the Ahmadiyya Community the latest and perpetual victim of “Muslim” violence, ignorance, and hypocrisy. I ask that all Muslims get it together and aid one another. It doesn’t matter if you pray with your arms folded, pray with your arms at your sides, pray with your hands on your heart, etc. It doesn’t matter if you expect the Messiah to come with Imam Mahdi, expect Jesus (as) to descend from the clouds, or believe that he came 100 years ago already. It doesn’t matter if you prayer toward the Holy House in Islamabad, Cairo, Jakarta, Paris, London, Dakar, or Washington DC. Muslims we have to unite and be brothers and protectors of one another!

Oh Allah (swt), I ask that you guide our hearts and our minds. I ask that you turn us nearer to you and forgive our transgressions. I ask that you renew in us the spirit of true brother and sister hood. I ask that you remind us that all are brothers who seek you and follow the Sunnah of the Prophet (saw). Oh Allah (swt), I ask that you turn back the Shaitan who is winning over those who say they serve you in Indonesia, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and everywhere where your name is uttered. We seek refuge in you from Shaitan the accursed and ask that you deafen our ears to his whispers. Oh Allah (swt) protect the Muslim oppressed, especially those oppressed by other Muslims, such as Jammat Ahmaddiya. Oh Allah (swt) bless and strengthen them and all Muslims of conscience who speak out against such atrocities. Oh Allah (swt) remind us to follow your perfected Deen and grant us your Mercy, for you are the Most Merciful, Compassionate, Dispenser of Grace. It is to You Alone that we submit.
